Subject app stopped functioning: error message "..unable to load guide...". Has this old app finally reached end-of life for old Android 9?

UPDATE:
The Xfinity TV Remote app was removed from the Apple Store and Google Play. However, if you have the app on your device, you should still be able to use it as you would normally (though you may need to refresh the app; to do so, simply close the app and then reopen it).
If you removed the app from your device, you may be able to use the Xfinity Web Remote for Xfinity X1, which is available on xfinity.com on any mobile device. The Web Remote has many of the same features that the TV Remote app does. Please note that the Web Remote is not compatible with Xumo Stream Box.
In addition, the Xfinity Voice Remote is available to new and existing Xfinity X1, Xfinity Flex, and Xumo Stream Box customers. You can order one to be shipped to you through Xfinity Assistant (accessory shipping and handling fee will apply). Or you can visit a local Xfinity Store to pick one up in person.
We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for being an Xfinity customer.
EDIT 12/23/24: If you've previously installed the app you can re-install it from your app store I've confirmed this works on my iPad (I do not have an Android device to test personally).
Reinstall apps or turn apps back on (Android)
How to redownload apps on iPhone or iPad
Open the App Store app.
Tap the My Account button or your photo at the top of the screen.
Tap Apps.
If you use Family Sharing, tap My Apps or choose a family member’s name to see content that they purchased.
Tap "Not on this [device]."
Find the app that you want to download, then tap the Redownload button.

PLEASE bring back the Xfinity TV Remote app! My mom is 80 years old and blind, and many times the app has helped me to help her get the correct channel. I use it multiple times daily for her! This is essential for her life.

Hi @user_jugb2j
Hi All -
The Xfinity TV Remote App is no longer available. If you still have it on your device, you may see missing content, blank screens, error messages, and/or information about upgrading to X1 service (even if you have X1), depending on which operating system your phone uses and which functions you attempt to use.
The good news is that almost all of the content and functionality in the Xfinity TV Remote App for scheduling DVR Recordings, Viewing Program listings and more has been incorporated into the Xfinity Stream App.
If you are looking for the ability to control your TV via a mobile device, this functionality is available by using our Web Remote. Just access http://remote.xfinity.com on your phone, tablet, or computer's web browser (such as Chrome, Safari, or Edge).
If you'd like to create a shortcut on your Apple iOS or Android mobile device, I have provided some instructions below, which may vary a bit depending on the device you're using.
Creating a shortcut on an iPhone or iPad
Creating a shortcut on an Android phone using Chrome
I hope this helps!

Hello. My Xfinity TV remote app was no longer working with communicating to my X1 box. I deleted it, and when I tried to reinstall it from the Apple app store, I couldn’t find it. Was it discontinued? If so, why, are there plans to reintroduce it? Thanks

Our son has Cerebral Palsy and the App was the only way he could access the cable box since he doesn't have the ability to push physical buttons. To drop this without letting us know in advance is also terrible. This has now become an ADA Accessibility Issue.....

I am trying to install the shortcut on my iPad but do not see any “Share” icon on the bottom of the screen.

I agree that dropping the remote app was a stupid decision. We are technology challenged seniors that don’t like using the remote.xfinity.com shortcut, which is not as functional as the app Xfinity discontinued. Please either bring the app back or release a new one with similar functionality.

So the Remote App is no more.
But wait, I can get almost the same functionality using the Stream App and Web Remote?
I always thought the way to run a successful service company was to increase convenience and functionality. It may be time to join the “cord-cutting crowd”.
Disappointing!

Thank you XfinityBecker for your clarification. Couple of comments below:
Regarding: "The Xfinity TV Remote App is no longer available". EOL app "Xfinity TV Remote" is still available (Android) on Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xfinity.tv&hl=en&pli=1
2nd, wouldn't an EOL message be more customer considerate, rather than the "rabbit hole" message below?
"We are unable to load your Guide at the moment. Please try again later."
No doubt, there are many Comcast users chasing this error message down the rabbit hole, to no avail.
Thanks for being there.

Is there anyone at Xfinity that is customer focused and understands the implications for many "customers" of what this change means and how incredibly inconsiderate it was just to pull the plug on this feature? It was the one thing that worked and was consistent.

@XfinityBecker why did Xfinity decide to stop supporting the app? It's the same thing Xfinity did a few years ago with no longer supporting the Xfinity connect app. I don't use Xfinity's email service for that very reason anymore. I have Gmail and I have used it for many years now. Why does Xfinity see the need to keep deleting or not supporting apps that actually work? Xfinity's website is a disaster. The old website worked just fine. I can't even view my current services or change my plan to something new. I contacted customer service and they don't see any issues on their side. Every time I go to attempt to view any current plans to either upgrade or downgrade it tells me to "contact us." What's the point of telling customers to go online to change or view current services when it doesn't work?

the WEB-SITE REMOTE is a nice feature to replace the tv remote app (in that you can place a "short-cut" to the web page on your phone (although it is twice as large as your screen, so you have to scroll left, right, up, down in order to use it) .... only problem with the WEB-SITE REMOTE is that it is linked to Xfinity web site itself, and if you are not constantly mashing buttons, you WILL get logged out ... no matter what you do ... STAY SIGNED IN only works for so long, the second you leave the web site you are automatically logged out ... inactivity for more than a few minutes will also log you out ...
using the WEB-SITE REMOTE requires you to log in to Xfinity almost every time you want to use it ....
log in to log in to use an app to log in so you can turn the channel on your tv ... BRILLIANT IDEA
