XR15 Remote RF Frequency

Testing a universal remote that can use RF to send commands.  It wants to know what frequency the device remote uses - 433 or 315.  Do you have that info as I couldn't find it on the remote or online?  Will the XG1V4-A respond to a third party remote using RF instead of IR?

Hi there @BIslander!  Thank you so much for taking the time to reach out to Xfinity Support!  At this time, our X1 set top devices are to be paired using Xfinity remotes.  Using a 3rd party device is not always a guarantee that it will pair correctly.  Do you need another remote?  You can always get a new one (free of charge) in any Xfinity Store, or we can have one shipped to you if needed (shipping costs may apply).

@XfinityArmand

maybe the guy wants a super fancy remote that can do macros and control EVERYTHING?

I am also interested in what frequency it is that can be set......

Thanks @XfinityArmand  My XR15 is just fine.  Starting to use a Sofabaton X1S in my home system that has several program content devices beyond the X1 box.  The universal remote can do most of the X1 functions using IR, but some like the Xfinity key are not supported.  So, I'd like to know if I can even use RF from this other remote and, if so, what's the frequency.

Thanks.

Hi there, @blslander! While most universal remotes primarily use infrared (IR) and might not be able to replicate the full functionality of an Xfinity remote, including the "Xfinity key," it's highly unlikely that your standard universal remote can utilize radio frequency (RF) to control your Xfinity box; I do apologize we would not have that information on what the frequency would be.-Richard

@XfinityRichard  Not sure what you mean by "your standard universal remote".  Are you saying the XG1v4-A will not respond to RF from any third party remotes?  Or that some non-standard remotes will work?   The Sofabaton X1S does support RF communication with some devices, but they don't provide a list of those devices.

Hi there, @blslander! Yes, a universal remote can generally be programmed to work with the Xg1v4 Xfinity TV box, as most universal remotes are designed to control a wide range of devices, including cable boxes like the Xg1v4.-Richard

@XfinityRichard  Yes, of course.   I have the Sofabaton X1S running my X1 box using IR.  Works great, except that a function like the Xfinity button cannot be learned by the new remote using IR to capture it.   That's why I'm asking about RF since the XR15 Comcast remote uses RF with the XG1v4-A and the remote I'm trying is capable of sending RF commands.

Will the XG1v4-A respond to RF commands from a remote other than the ones you provide?

BIslander It will respond to commands but the Xfinity button is unique to our remotes.

@XfinityVictor Thanks.  Guess that's the end of the road on that.  The other drawback of the Sofabaton remote I am trying is that it lacks a number pad, which makes it less than useful for cable or satellite TV systems.  So, I guess I'll keep using your XR15 for cable and the universal remote for everything else.

BIslander I am sorry it lacks that function. A number pad is also something that helps. Let us know idf there is anything else we can assist you with.
