Failed to find IP address

I've been using the Xfinity hotspot at my house for the past few months and it's been working just fine. However lately I tried connecting, and it says "Failed to find IP address". I tried everything, I restarted my phone, wifi, and unplugged the router, tried to change to static etc. No luck, even my brother seems to be working just fine. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hello, @Isaiahhoagland12, I'm sorry you are not able to get online using your phone. That is weird you are getting a failed to find IP address when your brother can get online just find. It makes me wonder if it has something to do with your device. Are you able to let us know what cell you have and if you are connecting to an Xfinity Hotspot near you or trying to connect to your home Wi-Fi? For residential service you don't want to set up a static IP, you will always want to use a dynamic IP.

@XfinityJosephA Thanks for the response. I am using a Samsung Galaxy S8 and it's a hotspot. Like I said, it was working perfectly then one Morning I tried connecting to it and it said failed to obtain IP address.

Got it and no problem :) The reason I asked was because you said you unplugged the router. If your brother's phone is working the hotspot seems to be working just fine. Do you have residential service with Xfinity?  I just want to get a better understanding of your equipment you're resetting. Does your Galaxy S8 have all its most recent updates and have you tried a few browsers on the phone?

Update, now all my devices are not working with the hotspot. Everything is updated. Is it possible for the host to control who's connected to the hotspot and not the main internet.

Hello @Isaiahhoagland12! Thank you for the update, we appreciate it! Do you know if the hotspot you have been connecting to is a business or residential address? Our residential customers are able to turn off their hotspots!
