Finding how much data a device is using
I have Xfi and under devices I can see a chart for each device that shows data usage over the past 24 hours. However, the data usage scale is only labeled as low, high, very high, etc. I am having difficulty staying under the 1 TB monthly limit and can't determine where this much data is being used. How can I measure and quantify the data used by each device?

Exactly correct. I have the Xfi modem and although the account data use will soon exceed 1TB, when I look at each device that is connected Xfi says the usage is less than 0.1% of the total. We do almost zero streaming so there is no known reason why our data use should almost double over the last few months.
I went to a Comcast store and they attempted to help me figure it out, but no joy. Since I already have the Xfi modem, going to an unlimited data plan was $11/month which was less than I expected. I don't like it, but I am spinning my wheels wasting time trying to figure it out so I moved to an unlimited data plan.
The answer to every problem is you need to pay more!

one thing that won't be tracked by the xFi app would be anything you have wired in. I'm aware of this as i have 2 tvs directly conntected, but it would still be nice to get actuals instead of percentages used from wireless.

Xfinity is all of a sudden saying we are using all kinds of data when we haven't changed any usage habits. Does anyone know of a class action lawsuit to join since they can't (I mean won't) tell you how much data you are actually using per device per day? Definitely seems like we need to start a class action lawsuit on data caps and not itemizing data usage per device per month. Cell phone companies itemize data usage per device per month in great detail. Isn't Xfinity also a cell phone company? Hmm, sounds like they have all of the technology and software to do so, but are charging customers blindly for so called "overages" that don't exist.

SAME! First time in years we’ve been “exceeding” our data plan and all we do is steam tv a few hours a day! Nothing has changed since last month, something is definitely off in their end

Update: I looked at the rate at each device and compared one hour on my other internet compared to xfinity internet, and I was charged 2-4 times more data usage than the device uses per hour on the xfinity internet. I finally got in touch with a good xfinity tech (after speaking to at least 10 other people over a few week period) and they are replacing my broadband box, and next month I will have to monitor usage again to see if that solved the problem. I also calculated an average usage per day per device compared to the average xfinity said I used this month, and the data they said I used per day was 2-4 times what we actually use. So hopefully the new broadband will correct this issue, but we shall see next month.
