[RESOLVED] Android vs iOS

I have a Samsung A52 G5 and a iPhone 15 with the Xfinity App installed. However, the information displayed is not the same. On the A52, when I navigate to the Devices page. I see all my Home network connected devices in the right categories. On the iPhone not so good. Two of my Linux PCs are listed in the "Other" category. My Galaxy tablet is missing even though it is connected. So, it is obvious the iOS version of the app is broken and needs work, yes?

Hello user_zwe4nj, thank you for reaching out here in our Xfinity Community forum, we appreciate you taking the time. As for the app differences, (just to be thorough), a few quick questions. Are the devices you have the apps installed on updated to their latest version? Is the app on those devices updated to the latest version?

Thank you, have you been able to uninstall and install the app on the Apple device?

Are you able to log in to your account online and compare what the information is showing on there for the devices?

Lastly, we would want to forget that device(s) that is not showing updated or in the correct category and re-add.

I can't explain it but there seems to be an issue in the manner the app communicates with the home network devices.

This has nothing to do with what mobile device I have the app installed on either.

As I noted in the original post. I installed the app on a Samsung Galaxy A52 5G and a iPhone 15.

The app acts in the same erratic way on both mobile devices. This morning I see the following problems (and everyday it is something different)

- Tap "Test internet connection": The results doesn't show my WiFi Extender. The list is missing multiple devices connected my home network.

- Tap "WiFi": The results displays my Extender is offline (when it is not), 14 of the 17 listed offline devices are actually connected, not offline.

The only that does display correctly in the "Account" information (billing, statements, etc).

Last, I noticed there are multiple users posting problems about the app just like mine.

user_zwe4nj Appreciate the details on this. What type of network is extender is paired? Is your device chain from the gateway to extender all owned devices? We are always happy to help sort out these types of situations. I feel confident that we can get this figured out, I have been using the Xfinity app for a long time, and I have always had good success.

I'm marking this thread [resolved] but not [solved]. The manner in which the Xfinity app works in device discovery is mystifying to say the least. A few months I didn't have any problems understanding what I saw, even between different mobile devices (Apple vs Samsung). It appears Xfinity has development teams working on the same app but implementing different features and affecting the look and feel of the app. There is also another issue I have with the app. I have multiple guest VMs in my home network. They no long appear by themselves in the "Connected devices" section. What happens is when the guest VM starts up and connects, the guest VMs details replace the details of the host in the "connected devices" list. Then after an hour or so everything gets corrected from somewhere. I guest the Xfinity Cloud talks to my gateway to fix the ARP table, idk. Very strange and quirky. The only part that makes sense to me is the "Test internet connect" task. Although the guest VMs don't show up in the tested devices, just the hosts.
