Same device listed multiple times in XFi app
I installed a new Modem last week (Arris TG1682G) to replace a Cisco DPC3941T that had been misbehaving. Since installing the Arris I have begun to notice strange behavior. My iPad and iPhone seem to be added to my network every time they leave the network (i.e., I leave the house) and then return. The devices get a new MAC address and IP address. As a result, I have the devices listed in my active devices on my network but also in the list of inactive devices. So, for example, I currently have a device named “XX-iPad-Pro-5” in my inactive device list and “XX-iPad-Pro-66” in my active device list. Similarly, I have “iPhone-X-79” connected and “iPhone-54” and “iPhone-44” in the not connected list. Deleting the inactive devices does not help as new devices show up in their place. I’ve done the typical modem restart and I’ve checked the modem logs to see if anything showed up there, but I can’t determine anything linked to this behavior. I am running the beta of iOS 14 (up to beta 4 as I write this) and wonder if this behavior may be linked to that. I suspect not, since the behavior started with the new modem not the installation of the beta software. I also have a Fingbox connected to the modem but in my search of the Fingbox discussion lists I was unable to find any posts reporting similar issues. Of course, I was also unable to find anything in these forums, either, which is why I’m posting. I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere in these forums and I just missed it. Any suggestions, ideas, help, etc., would be much appreciated.

Update (4 weeks after modem replacement): The problem appears to have gone away. The behavior noted above continued for about a week and I have continued to monitor to be sure that things had resolved. For the past two weeks (or thereabouts) my iPad and iPhone have been single entries - no duplicates - and no other duplicate devices have shown up. My entirely subjective speculation is that, for whatever reason, the modem needed time to settle in. Now that it has been perking along for a while and the devices it sees on the network are familiar everything seems to have calmed down. I'm not sure if this will be helpful to others who have posted with similar issues, but patience seems to have been the solution for me. Judging from the lack of posts regarding this on these forums, this must be a rare occurrence.

Same issue. I have 5 devices added to my network and the only one that my Xfinity app notifies me about; "a new unassigned device as connected to network" is my phone. Only when I am in range of my network. Didn't start seeing these notifications. 93 to be exact till 3 months ago I upgraded from the standard Xfinity service to the Xfi service with voice command. I've upgraded the network security and renamed the network several times along with the addition of a MoCA filter. Deleting the device or adding it to my household occasionally doesn't help resolve the issue.

I have the same problem with a new Apple Watch. I get multiple ‘new device connected’ message as I move around the house. I suspect every time it sees it from a Pod & not the main router, it thinks it’s a new device with the same name?!? I’ve only assigned it to household once but the xfinity app keeps giving ‘new device’ notifications for the same Apple Watch multiple times a day. Annoying.
