Unable to access home network settings via Xfinity App

I am trying to access my home network settings via a computer (http://10.0.0.1/) and receive a message to use the Xfinity app. I then ensure my phone is connected to my home network and open the xfinity app, but there the "View Wifi Equipment" is not available.  I can only see my two devices (tv boxes).  I have uninstalled, redownloaded and reinstalled the app and still the same.  How can I restore access to the modem via my computer (http://10.0.0.1/) or access to "Allow admin tool access" in order for me to turn it on?

user_fe05a0 Hi there! Thanks for using our Forums and for taking the time out of your day to write us. I am happy to work with you to make sure you have the proper access or role through our app. Do you know the role the username you are logging in with has? Here is a good link https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/primary-and-secondary-accounts that shows you the difference which can impact your access.

@XfinityJorge Appreciate the reply and I did NOT know about roles, but after following your link it seems the directions and reality do not match.  The only option for me under "Account Details" is to change the nickname of my address. However under that there is a separate option labelled "Account Users" where I can invite friends and family.  I tried to add my own name but seems as the owner it already exists.  I will assume as the only user that I am the manager with full access.

I called into customer service on this issue as well and they recommended a router replacement so I went and got another one.  The first replacement was a dud but the second one has restored access.

However, there is something worth noting that I discovered and should be added to Xfinity's troubleshooting paths.  I use my own router after the modem.  When I first install your modem I can use the xfinity app and see "wifi details" and go to "advanced settings" in order to toggle the "access to admin too".  ONCE, I toggle the "access to admin tool" and enable "bridge mode" the app completely removes the "wifi settings" button, and the "view wifi equipment>advance settings" in the app.  These buttons no longer exist.

I say this because my previous router was also in bridge mode.  When xfinity forced use of the app to gain access to "10.0.0.1" again, if the router was in bridge mode, those buttons do not exist.

Thanks for the response and working with us. If you are wanting to get access to the admin tool you may need to access it while bridge mode is toggled off. At this time when your modem is in bridge mode you would lose features in the XFINITY App including the ability to manage and personalize your network. Here is an additional link that gives more details https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/wireless-gateway-enable-disable-bridge-mode .

@XfinityJorge To the intent, I know that now.  Just a recap:

1. Original router was always in bridge mode.

2. Xfinity removed access to 10.0.0.1, forcing app access only.

3. When I call xfinity customer service, they ask me to go to app, wifi>wifi equipment>advance settings...this did not exist to me. At the same time, I lost access to 10.0.0.1 so there is NO ability to toggle bridge mode. This is the shortfall that needs to be captured.

4. New router, I have access to app, wifi>wifi equipment>advance settings, then toggle "access to admin tools", then 10.0.0.1 is restored and also my ability to toggle Bridge mode.

In my opinion, any user that has their modem in bridge mode MUST have access to 10.0.0.1, OR the app MUST NOT reduce features that prevent the options I just described.

@XfinityAngie I am able to access "10.0.0.1" now, yes.  Also note:

1. New router. Xfinity app shows wifi settings & wifi equipment in app.  Previously it did not.

2. On xfinity app, I wen to wifi>wifi equipment>advance settings, then toggle "access to admin tools". 10.0.0.1 access restored.

3. I log into 10.0.0.1 and enable Bridge mode again.

4. Xfinity app has now removed the wifi settings & wifi equipment icons under wifi.  They are no longer there.

To answer your question though...yes I have access now.
