Unable to change advanced WiFi settings from 10.0.0.1 or xFi APP
I used to be able to change the WiFi settings on the XB6-T Gateway, such as the network channels, channel bandwidth, and WiFi mode...
I am now unable to change any setting, I do see a message stating: "
Wi-Fi Mode, Security Mode, Channel Selection, Channel Mode, and Channel Bandwidth are being managed automatically to help optimize your home Wi-Fi network and improve Wi-Fi coverage. To edit your Wi-Fi Network Name & Network password, please download the Xfinity xFi app or visit [xfinity.com/myxfi](http://xfinity.com/myxfi)."
In the past I did let the gateway handle the WiFi settings as I had xFi pods installed. I am no longer using the pods and removed them from my account via the xFi app.
I did a full reset (held the button on the back of the modem for 20 seconds) to no avail. Any ideas or suggestions as to why this is happening.
Any help is greatly appreciated! 🙂
I am unable to change these settings via the website or the XFi app. It will only let me edit the WiFi names and passwords.

Comcast engineers, in their great and awesome wisdom (sic), seem to have removed the ability to do this from ALL of their gateways within the past couple months, whether you have (or had) Pods or not.
There may be some lucky people who still have not been "upgraded" to this awesome (sic) new service but I would assume by now that those numbers are very few. If you dig through the painfully designed forums here you will see numerous complaints about this silent change and you will hear the sound of crickets in response because Comcast 1) doesn't care about you, 2) they don't really monitor these forums, at least with anyone with any real technical knowledge and, 3) the few who do preuse here will ACTIVELY avoid anything touchy like this topic that they know they will get beat-up on as they have no input back to the non-smart (can't say a "naughty" word you know) engineers back in Philly.
Sorry to not be of much help, but this issue really burns me up. Anyway, your best bet is to just bite the bullet and get your own router and modem and then you again have the most basic of wi-fi controls back in your hands. Maybe the new white Wi-Fi6 gateway they announced will be better, but I'm not holding my breath. It's a shame when a company won't let you throw money at them every month (rental fees) for doing something so dumb.

this is soo tru its bee na while since i neededd these settings just had to ask the tech support on the phone to change the channels for me. i told him which ones are open nearby for the best connection/clearest signals. He had to MANUALLY change this for me....... thanks to xfininty TAKING AWAY ACCES TO MY RENTAL MODEM/ROUTER COMBO. without a heads up??. and without asking??? theres a reason people with 1gig networks need access to this stuff. im guessing that we are trying to make money/careers that involve high banwith internet in our homes. if we didnt know how to [Edited: "Language"] with these settings we probably wouldn't need 1gb downloads in the first place. its like football players wear helmets. not peoplewho watch football. what kind of [Edited: "Language"] enoughs up thought.... yeah. people who know how to login to router settings from a webrowser and change all these settings. them knowing how many menus and which settings to select through to get to that settings menu. theres no wayyyyyy THESE PEOPLE will need to adjust these settings any further. they probably just want a new network name. so lets give them a heads up little header notice. yeah. this will totally deter them from actually NEEDING to USE these settings. letting them know we know whats best for THEIR NETWORK. in THEIR REGION. and THEIR INTERNET NEEDS. and we can totally GUESS how the neighbors networks in THEIR location/address are going to behave. we will totally be fine having the best service in most areas and then setting all the routers to the default channel. theres no way in an apartment building their in ALL 3 of THEIR neighbors have comcast/xfinity also. and probably a similar or same router. so theres no way I now have 6 wifi signals on channel 1 for 2.4Ghz. and 6 yes thats 6 other ones taking up channel 43ish. great job team. thanks sooo much for making 3 of my phones useless on my home network. just gunna have to go dig out a seperate router and avoid this altogether. xfinity im not happy ot say the least. you guys are [Edited: "Language"]. please change this so i can stop seeming impatient with this underpaid indian guy on the phone. hes just trying to help. but thinks im quite slow in the head unfortunately. please tell him im not mad at him personally. im just annoyed at all of you equally.
