Why is my iPhone being detected as a Ulifone 7 in the Xfinity app

Several times now after I reboot my iPhone 14 Pro Max the Xfinity app says a Ulifone 7 has just connected to network. Scared me the first time but when I paused the Ulifone 7 my iPhone was paused. Unpausing the Ulifone 7 and my iPhone connects to network again.

why is the iPhone being misidentified?

I'm having the same issues on my iPhone 16 Pro Max. XFinity shows this iPhone as a “Ulefone Armor 7” connected device on my wifi. Is this a bug on xFinity to mislabel my iPhone?

It must be a bug. It says it’s an iOS operating system when it identifies as Ulefone 7 Armor but the MAC address and IP address are for my iPhone.

worried me until I dug into it.

sudogeek Unless you have a stored name in your Xfinity app for the device how it is labeled is all automated but the device itself. In some devices, you can even change how your device is listed when connected to another network. If it is available it would be in the About phone or About Device settings and you would check out the device name. That name shown there would be what is shown when you log in to a wifi network.

@XfinityAmandaB my iPhone 14 Pro Max is listed as iPhone 14 Pro Max in general - about - model name - iPhone 14 Pro Max. In the name line it is listed as iPhone.

I always listed my phone as iPhone in Xfinity app too.

No where is the Ulefone Armor 7 listed.

I have changed name from Ulefone to iPhone several times in the Xfinity app but it keeps coming back to Ulefone.

@sudogeek just curious if the phone that’s being misidentified as a ulefone is a replacement sent from an insurance plan like the ones att and Verizon have for their customers for 17$ a month. Cuz mine is a replacement phone that I got from att insurance plan but was not sent to me in apple packaging. I was under the assumption that it would be a new phone but I received a refurbished one. Cuz I had this worry in the back of my head that this phone could have been tampered with by anyone it might even have a back door so someone in china can steal all my info. And this thing being misidentified makes me think Chinese parts have been used in the refurbing of this phone and is now compromised and I should probably get a new phone.

Same issue. Recently added ATT active armor app to my phone. Could that be causing this issue?

@KrikorT Welcome to our community forum! Thank you for reaching out with your questions about the device name associated with your phone. We're a team of experts dedicated to addressing all your questions and concerns and we'll work alongside you until we reach the best possible resolution :).

Your Xfinity app will display information being shared by the devices that connect to your personal network. The app could potentially be masking your device type as a protective measure, but I'm unable to speak to the specifics of a third party app. What steps have you taken to reach your cell provider, phone manufacturer, or app developer for more clarification on the security features?

Having the same issue. Chinese hackers taking over our phones? Comcast?

Hello Everyone,

Regarding the post about iPhones being detected as the name "Ulifone 7" in the manage devices section of the Xfinity App.

Our team determined that this is an internal error, and it has been corrected. The iPhone should appear on the app correctly now.

Thank you, for your patience and your feedback
