xFi Pod compatibility with the XB6 Modem

I have the XFi modem/router (model XB6) and I've read online that the XFI Pod (Model B1A) are compatible. However, the Xfinity app doesn't allow me to connect the Pods with my system when I go through the setup & activation process. Why is the app not allowing me to connect compatible devices together? Are they not compatible? If not, why are there articles on the Xfinity site that says they are?

user_5a0atl thank you for using the Xfinity Community Forums page to reach out regarding your xFi pod compatibility. I would be happy to take a closer look at your equipment as it should indeed be compatible for use together.

@XfinityMarcus Please let me know how I can reach you to go over this issue or tell me how I can get the Pods to connect to my account and system so that I can use them.

Or maybe answer this question; is there a way to factory reset the pods so that they are no longer associated with any former account so that I may be able to attach them to my account?

user_5a0atl That could work, but if it's link to another account it may cause hiccups. Were these purchases from a third party?

Yes. I found them on Facebook Marketplace for a good deal. The person I bought them from no longer used Xfinity as their provider so they were getting rid of their old equipment. (I'm guessing that they never removed them from their account.)

Either way, I was hoping that setting up equipment was easy. Not as difficult as it is being. I would think that since I now have the pods in my possession, it would be simple to set the SN of the physical pod to my account. How hard is it to make a modification in my account to be able to use the pods?

@user_5a0atl If you are able to contact the seller again, the following needs to be done in order to activate them on your account.

WiFi Boost Pods should be removed from your home network if you are no longer using them, returning for refund or exchange, or gifting the Pods to someone else. Follow these steps to remove WiFi Boost Pods using the Xfinity app.

  1. Open the Xfinity app. You may be required to sign in with your Xfinity ID and password.
  2. Go to WiFi.
  3. Select View WiFi equipment.
  4. Select the WiFi Boost Pod you want to remove.
  5. Scroll down to select Device details.
  6. Scroll down to select Remove Pod.

Repeat these steps as needed for additional Pods on your network.

What if they no longer have the ability to remove the pods because they no longer have an active Xfinity account? What if they no have the Xfinity app to be able to remove the pods from their account? As I mentioned before, they no longer use Xfinity so their account is no longer active. And finally, what if I can no longer get a hold of the seller again?

Isn't there a way that you can reset the SN of each pod so I can add them to my account? After all, possession is 9/10th of the "law". So why is it so hard for you to reset the pods using the SN of each pod so that I can use them on my account? I should be able to show you that I have possession of the pods and you go into your computer and reset the pods so that I am able to connect them to my account. After all, what if I bought them from a second-hand store? They would have no record of who donated them. Yet I would still have possession of the pods purchased "fair & square" from a legit business other than Xfinity. Your system should be smart enough that after you verify that the pods are in my possession, you should be able to reset the pod based on the SN of it. That way I can then add the pod to my account and benefit as I am still an Xfinity customer.
