Xfinity Assistant / app loop: told to activate in the app, but the app can't activate an offline gateway (plus a 2035 appointment date bug)
Posting this because the self-service path Xfinity keeps pointing me to is a closed loop, and it has cost me real days.
I moved between two apartments in the same building. Same Voice and Data gateway, coax connected, powered on, account address updated. Xfinity's status page shows "Voice and Data Modem Offline." No area outage.
Every time I ask Xfinity Assistant for help or try to reach an agent, I get routed to: "You'll need to activate your Internet equipment using the Xfinity App."
The problem is that the Xfinity app cannot activate a gateway that is not reaching the network. So the app sends me back to the Assistant, and the Assistant sends me back to the app. I have gone around that loop many times now.
Other things I hit in the Assistant that are worth flagging to whoever maintains it:
1. Asking about my appointment repeatedly returned "Monday, December 31, 2035" as the appointment date. That is obviously a bug and it made it impossible to trust anything the Assistant told me about scheduling.
2. During my Monday 1:00-3:00pm PT appointment window, the Assistant told me "It looks like your technician has arrived and will be with you shortly." No technician had arrived. The order notes show the job was being placed ON HOLD at 1:07pm PT at almost exactly that moment.
3. The troubleshooting flow reaches "I'm updating the device in our system. Please give us a moment to fix it" and then hangs indefinitely with no result and no error.
4. The Assistant switched into Tagalog mid-conversation without being asked.
5. "Chat with an agent" returns "Looks like our agents aren't available right now" outside call center hours, but the button gives no indication of what those hours are, so you just keep clicking it.
Individually these are annoying. Together they meant I spent hours believing a technician was on the way while my install order was frozen, and I am now 10 days without service with two no-showed appointments.
Can someone route the December 2035 appointment-date bug and the false "your technician has arrived" message to whoever owns the Assistant? The second one in particular caused real harm.
