Xfinity TV WEB app appears to not be working ...
first of all, Xfinity decided to take away the "tv remote phone app" ... and they gave us a web page substitute .... WELL - with some tweaking on my part, I got this thing to work, although I was disappointed that the phone app was discontinued with no notice, I slowly accepted the decision made by Xfinity to get rid of the phone app
now this morning (I'm retired, and thus, I find myself with no rigid routine to follow (go to bed at 11, wake up at 6, eat lunch at noon and dinner at 6) ... instead, I stay awake till late at nite (or early morning, depends on whether you see the glass half full or half empty) ... take small naps throughout the day .. chili for breakfast and pancakes at 9 at nite ... like I said, no scheduled routine to follow
long story short ... woke up this morning at about 2:30 am and could not go back to sleep, so I turned on the tv, surfed a few channels (all the time using the web-page app) (I set up a shortcut to the internet site on my phone, for ease of use) (and before you ask, NO my tv remote control that came with the installation of my Xfinity cable does not work, it quit working several weeks after I got cable installed. Complained about it several time per month (for several months), with no results (except for the sage advice from the Tech Guy "did you change the batteries?") Gave up trying to get a replacement for it and THEN, that when I found the phone app ... that small piece of mana from heaven ... thank you
ANY HOW, I woke this morning, did some channel surfing and Xfinity at about 3:15 am went and did their daily update ... no big deal ... after the usual 5-6 minutes of waiting for the update, my tv came back to life ... only, instead of ESPN, my tv was set to QVC ... strange, but no big deal, I'll just change back to ESPN
SO, I picked up my phone, turned it on, swiped the screen to the right, and clicked on the "web app" ... login error - I/O input ... blah, blah, blah" please log in to try again
no good ... the same error kept popping up ... "Login Error: server_error: I/O error on POST request" ... okay, clear out my cache, reset my phone, try again
same error
try on my computer .... same problem, same error ... clear the cache on my computer, restart my computer ... same problem ...
TWO totally different devices, same error ... hmmmmmm
reset the modem, reset the cable input ... try on different browsers (Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome) all 3 come back to the same problem ... "Login Error"
call tech support, and after 10 minutes of arguing with the bot, I was finally able to get connected to a live agent
2 hours later, I am still watching QVC
was told that tech "would be looking into my problem" ....
don't give that much credit ....
(anyone want to buy some tanzanite ???)

Hi there, @user_57f798! Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Community Forum! Sounds like there may have been some maintenance going on there to cause the issue. Are you able to use the site now? Also, were you aware you can set the default startup channel on X1? You can find out how to do so here: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/x1-default-startup-channel I have mine set to Disney since my puppy loves to watch cartoons.
