How to bring your own device (BYOD) to NOW Mobile (Answered)
***Updated 6/23/2026***
BYOD and update your network to NOW Mobile.
Keeping your phone number
You can keep your current phone number when joining Xfinity Mobile. Xfinity accepts phone numbers from all service providers. You just need some account details from your previous service provider. Go to Can I keep my current phone number with Xfinity Mobile or NOW Mobile for details.
Note: Customers who bring their own tablet aren't eligible to port their number at this time.
How to make the switch
Check your compatibility
To BYOD to NOW Mobile, it needs to be compatible with our network. To find out if your device is compatible, visit our NOW Mobile device compatibility page. Checking your device's compatibility doesn't mean you're signing up for NOW Mobile.
Smartwatches are not supported with NOW Mobile at this time.
Make sure your device is unlocked
In addition to being compatible, your device also needs to be unlocked. Carriers often lock the devices they sell so they won't work on other networks. Your device may also be locked if you still owe money on it, but you can usually unlock your device once you've paid it off.
Check with your current carrier to see if your device needs to be unlocked. Apple users must complete a backup and factory reset after the previous carrier confirms that they have unlocked the device.
Get a SIM card
A NOW Mobile SIM card is the key to activating your device on the NOW Mobile network.
- If you already have a NOW Mobile nanoSIM (physical SIM) card or purchased an eSIM-compatible device, you can log in to your account to set up your device on an existing NOW Mobile line.
- You can also order a nanoSIM card online.
When you BYOD to NOW Mobile, your first monthly bill for that line will include a one-time line setup fee.
Activate
For information on activating your device with NOW Mobile, see the NOW Mobile overview.
Notes:
- Activation times vary by carrier and whether you’re keeping your number — typically, it takes around 10 minutes.
- Update your device so it's running on the latest software.
- Know your Apple ID or Google account and password.
- You'll need it to log back in to your device later.
- Save voicemails with sentimental value.
- Any time you change carriers, you lose your old voicemails.
- Learn how to save voicemails on iPhone.
- Voicemail on Android phones varies by carrier.
- To save voicemails on your Android phone, go to the voicemail app, select a specific voicemail and choose Save, Download, or Send.
- If you need more help, contact your current carrier.
