Cannot rent or purchase content

I'm a Xfinity Internet customer and when I access Xfinity Stream via desktop browser or Android apps, I'm unable to rent or purchase content.  I can search for new movies, but there's no option to rent or purchase them.  All I see in Stream are free content and purchased content that's linked to Movies Anywhere.

I don't believe this to be a device issue at all, but a settings or policy issue.  Where can I go and see if a setting was toggled to prevent rental/purchases?  Thank you.

Hi, @f23coupe! I know it must be so frustrating not being able to rent or purchase content on the app. Please click this link https://comca.st/3B6FYue for details on how to rent/purchase content to view on the Xfinity Stream app. I know you mentioned you're unable to make purchases on the desktop too, are you logged in as the primary user?

@XfinityBiancaB,

Hello.  I've clicked on the link and have read through it, but the Android Xfinity Stream app or the web site on the desktop browser on my PC only pulls up free content.  Per Advanced Tech Support, I've tried primary and secondary user accounts across multiple devices.  They all seem to pull up only free content as if I'm not allowed to rent or purchase any.  I confirmed this by searching for a recent release like In the Heights or Mortal Kombat (2021), but neither movie pulls up with a Rent or Purchase option.  In fact, all I can do is favorite it.

Why would I only see free content and none of the new releases?

Thank you.

@XfinityStephanieK,

I was finally able to purchase content on the Flex streaming box after exhausting all other options.  It did not matter if the Xfinity Stream app was used with Xfinity Internet or not as the UX was the same in offering only limited free movies and shows.  It'd be good to provide some documentation on Xfinity's site that Xfinity Internet-only customers can only rent or purchase using the Flex box and nothing else, so that others don't have to go on a wild goose chase either.

Really frustrating to have the flex box be the only option to use to rent movies. I use my fire stick and mobile more than the box and was trying to rent and only showed me free stuff. Finally i read this and tried my box. What do you know... Xfinity should really fix this asap.
