Return downloads not working

I downloaded shows to my iPad to watch while traveling. As I finished watching them, it asked if I wanted to return them. I said yes, although I was in airplane mode and didn’t think about that. Now that I’m home on my DVR it says they’re downloaded on my iPad and must be returned. But if I go to my iPad, there is nothing in my downloads. How do I resolve this conflict?

Thank you.  I was busy all week and when I sat down last night to watch TV, I was able to delete the recordings.  Seems like something was just stuck and took time to sync but all is well now.
