Scheduled Recording Glitch

Several times since installing and using the Xfinity Stream app on my LG TV in November 2024 and setting up scheduled recording it has glitched. While the app is supposed to allow up to 10 recordings at a time I have seen it indicate a recording will not recording due to a recording conflict when only two programs are scheduled for a time period. Further investigation has identified that it shows other channel high definition broadcast are shown as scheduled for broadcast IN THE LIVE TV LISTING that cannot be removed, e.g., channel 611 and 1011 both show as set to record the same program at the same time.  But the scheduled program listing only shows one of those programs set to record. I don't know whether it matters about this, but when it happens Stream will only allow 2 programs to record at a time. I always set the scheduler to record on a specific channel, if it allows, but sometimes it only gives an option to record HD instead of a specific channel.

Needless to say some scheduled programs will not record on a busy evening at times, but not every time there is a busy evening of scheduled content. And when I have discovered a conflict it generally cannot be undone without causing some other scheduled program to not record. This happened tonight when I had scheduled three programs to record: FBI International, Doc, and Rookie. FBI International was shown in conflict unable to record and I was able to remove it from the series schedule and then set it to record one time only. Later I found that the Rookie did not record, however. Checking next week shows the same problem: the Rookie (613) is in conflict but Doc (609) and FBI International (611) are set as series recordings set to record. Checking the Live Listing also show duplicate recording in the other three HD channels, 1011, 1013, 1026. I also noticed the programs are set in two of the TV GO channels listed as scheduled.

This has happened at least once before and I was able to resolve it somehow, but tonight the result was only two of the three programs recorded even though set as series recordings.

Today I noted that the scheduled recording for the Rookie on 613 and 1013 that shows a conflict cannot be modified. In other words it shows as a scheduled conflict without being able to delete or change it. How do I reset Stream without uninstalling and reinstalling, or is that the only option to clear the glitch? And will this also resolve not being able to schedule more than 2 programs to record at the same time?

UPDATE: I have noted that the program scheduled to record has the same conflict on different device that cannot be modified or deleted. Whether on the TV or a browser the same conflict is shown that cannot be resolved.

Hey, user_f66961! Thanks for reaching out to us on the Xfinity forums! I apologize to hear of the issues you are running into when it comes to trying to record multiple shows at once. Do you happen to know what DVR tier you have on your account? The tier that comes with all plans is Cloud DVR Lite. This only allows you to record 2 shows at a time. For an additional $10 a month, you can add normal DVR service that will allow you to record 6 shows at a time plus increase your space from 20 hours to 150 hours of recording.

@XfinityMichaelC Thank you for the information since I cannot find anything in print that you have provided. I only know what I was told in November when my TIVO with cable card quit working and I finally found out Xfinity no longer supported cable cards and I'd have to use Stream to watch and record programs. My TIVO recorded 4 channels at once and I was assured I could use the Stream App to do the same and they helped me set it up. When I later looked online to see in print how many programs I could record I am sure I found I was restricted to 4.  It worked to record in that regard when on occasion there would be 3 or 4 scheduled programs recording at a time. Now I just get a conflict error in the channel listing if that happens and no warning a program will not otherwise record.

I did find now in print that the preferred package allowed 4 recordings at the same time using the Stream App that runs on my LG TV. I have internet, cable, and mobile service in my plan which was changed when I added at the same time my mobile service as I began using Stream; but, of course, I can't use the cable now with my TIVO set top box (wow, that TIVO turned out to be a waste of money with no warning that support was ending).  I assume they gave me an allowance in the new package for the 4 recordings at a time preferred feature, but that no longer works.

Maybe this problem started when I reported the Stream App bug that would not allow play back of recorded program searches in reverse (instead it made the program start from the beginning). They fixed that bug, but now I am stuck with only 2 programs recording at a time. I don't wish to purchase more add-ons. I just was hoping things would stay working the same without aggravation and tens of hours of time spent trying to resolve problems. As a Diamond customer is it too little to expect?

Thank you for letting us know what you are experiencing, user_f66961. @michaelc definitely sounds on the right track with this being related to the DVR service you are subscribed to. Some of our older packages had the option to record with different options. We offer the ability to upgrade to 150 hours of DVR storage and the ability to record up to 6 shows at once with our new plans.

I am happy to check on your account so we can verify what package you have and further help. Please send us a direct message with your full name and complete service address to “Xfinity Support”. To do so, click on the direct messaging icon located at the top right of this forums page.

I have tried everything to get scheduled programming to record properly, even limiting to just two programs at a time. It does not work right. Here is what I currently document about using Stream to schedule recordings.

#1 - All the previously scheduled recording I entered and that were all recording properly now can fail to record. The only notice may be noted as a 'Conflict in Scheduling and will not record' that appears when in the TV listing you click the show and a drop down box/panel with the show details will tell you.

#2 - Even when two shows are scheduled with no overlap in recordings a scheduled program may also indicate the same as #1 and fail to record. As mentioned before, where a TV program is broadcast on two different channels (like 611 and 1011 as in Houston) there might be a conflict as it shows both channels recording the program even when you program the schedule to use only one channel. It just automatically selects the program on both channels! So that might count as two programs by itself and another program would be a conflict! So only one program records.

#3 - If a program appears on a cable channel and is rebroadcasted or repeated several times during the evening it is not possible to set a later recording (to avoid a conflict at an earlier time) when trying to set a series recording. It seems to work if you just select a later time to record if only recording one show, not the series. Testing this, however.

So whatever happened has truly messed up my ability to record the previously set series recordings with confidence. Even setting just two programs to record at a time may not work with visible notification of conflict shown.  Setting series recordings when a program is replayed is unlikely to work properly.  Stream is a mess to use now. HELP!

This is no joke. The app is very buggy and needs work now that a month or so ago worked great until a new version was released to fix the inability to rewind recorded programs arrived. Stream is the only way I can view and watch cable now since Xfinity abruptly stopped the use of cable cards and TIVO (without adding ... I don't want to add stuff). At least a quality Stream app should have been readied before that happened.
