xfinity app on firestick shuts off

I have been using the Xfinity app on my fire stick since last July and it's worked great until the last few weeks. Lately it automatically shuts off after a certain amount of time. I leave it on for my dogs so I'm not sure exactly how long, maybe 4 hrs? It's not the TV shutting off, just the Xfinity app. How do I fix this? I have the 4K Max Fire Stick with Wi-Fi 6.

This worked for me yesterday. Fire Stick remote: Go to Preferences > Data Usage Monitoring > Still Watching - turn this OFF.

@user_199bd3 Thank you for reaching out via our Xfinity Community Forum today. I leave music on for my pup when I leave the house. I don't know if he likes it, but it makes me feel better thinking he does not feel alone, so I understand your concern. A few things you will want to try to help with the app closing include:

1. Updating the Xfinity Streaming app ~ this can be done by removing and then reinstalling the app

2. Clearing the Cache and cookies ~ Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications, then select the app that's shutting off. From there, you can clear the cache and data for that app. Sometimes, accumulated cache or corrupted data can cause issues.

3. Check for updates for the Firestick~ Go to Settings > My Fire TV > About > Check for Updates.

4. Perform factory rest on your Firestick ~This will restore the device to its original settings. Go to Settings > My Fire TV > Reset to Factory Defaults. This will erase all data and settings on your Firestick so make sure you back up any important information before doing this.

Please let us know if you have any questions while performing those troubleshooting items. If the issue persists after trying these steps, you may need to contact Amazon customer support for further assistance or consider replacing the Firestick if it's a hardware-related problem

This started happening to me as well, last week. All four televisions. They shut off after 4 hours if you don't select the button to confirm you are still watching. The tv's are not the same brand, and I use Fire Sticks. I restarted each one, cleared cache, and still does it. I believe this is the application. This is not a TV setting as I checked that too. What else can be done?

@user_yp2w78 I’m glad to know I’m not the only one! I’ve tried everything they suggested (nothing worked) and today I did the factory reset. I haven’t had the opportunity to check it yet but I’m hoping it helped. It’s really a pain!

Turning the Still Watching setting to OFF did not work unfortunately. It should have, according to the directions, but I came home today and the tv was off again.

The troubleshooting steps that have been outlined should have worked. If the issue persists after trying those steps, you may want to contact Amazon customer support for further assistance as this would be their product.

I have been going back and forth on this issue with Xfinity for weeks. Had a technician here to install a new modem and that worked for 5 minutes and then the Xfinity App stopped working on my Fire TV within minutes of the guy leaving my house. So frustrating.

I am an IT person and have done all the troubleshooting myself -- and finally found what works -- not that I want to continue doing this -- but this works:

Clear the TV cache and then RESTART the TV using the function in the Settings utility.

When you do that -- the Xfinity Streaming app will work again --- but when you turn your TV off with the power button you'll usually need to do this again and again.

It's obvious that these 2 companies -- Xfinity and Amazon-- do not play well together nor do either care to make this work for those of us that may have a television that is more than a year old.

Can you clarify what you mean by "restart the TV using the function in the Settings utility?" I've tried everything and it still cuts off after 4 or 5 hours.
