Dvr freezes every time when skipping forward

My dvr programs always freeze when skipping forward 30 seconds.  this only happens towards the end of a long recording.  For example towards the end of a recorded basketball game (maybe 2 hours into it).  Once it freezes it never recovers.  I need to exit app, reenter and use time bar to get back to approximate spot.  If I don't use skip it always works.  I have recording saved but situation happens all the time.  Is there a limit to how much skipping I am allowed (so I must watch ads)?
