Why can’t I do a series record for only a single channel?

When you set up a series record, why can’t the system just record from 1 channel? For example I want to record FBI but it finds FBI across all channels instead.

Hi there user_htorv8, thanks for reaching out! When setting up a recording, you should indeed have an option select which channel the series will be recorded on as shown on our support page covering how to Record a series on X1. It should be the second option listed while going through the series recording settings. Is it not showing when you set up a series recording?

since this forum is for the xfinity stream WEBSITE, i will assume you are using a computer of some kind and a browser to set up a recording.  i too have had this same frustration in the past.  what i have found is... if you want a "specific channel only" to record for a new series recording, you need to go find that SHOW in the TV LISTINGS, on the CHANNEL you want, and set it up from there.  if you have already set that tv show to record via a different route, you may need to delete that series recording first, in order to start over fresh.  i have found this "new series recording, only on a specific channel" via tv listing grid method to be most reliable in letting me choose THAT channel to only record future episodes.  hope that helps you, and others.  :-)

Thanks. I had a TIVO and you could change a series recording to only select certain channels. I followed your suggestion and got it working the way I remember.

@user_htorv8  i miss tivo!  we had the very first one, before comcast even offered any way to record.  we used to record onto vhs tapes before tivo, and watch it on our swivel *giant* 36" tube floor console (heavy!). lol   glad you got what you needed.  it should be an option on any screen, using any method to start a series recording, but alas, comcast is no tivo.  too many layers and no focus on actually making the internal processes work the best way for the actual people paying for the service that all their employees' livelihoods depend upon.  apparently, we are here to serve their needs, and adapt to their processes and the way things work best for them.   (Blockbuster Video jingle in my ear, thinking about how Netflix was created by Reid Hastings over BV terrible customer service and taking us for granted)
