Why has xfinity killed streaming on old computers?

Why did xfinity intentionally kill browser-based streaming just because it's running on an old computer and operating system?  The whole point of browser-based SAAS is that the operating system doesn't matter.  I don't want to tie down my main PC with one monitor watching streaming, so I set up an old Windows 7 PC and use it only for streaming.  It's old, but until now it was handling the job just fine.  This decision wasn't technology based, it was simple malice.  Typical Comcast.

@jswoolf01 The main reason why Xfinity Stream may not work on older computers or devices is due to

minimum system requirements, which often include compatibility with specific operating systems, web browsers, and app versions.
Here's why these updates can affect older devices:
  • Unsupported Operating Systems: Older operating systems may lack the necessary features and security protocols required to run newer versions of the Xfinity Stream app and ensure secure and stable video playback.
  • Outdated Browsers: Streaming services rely on up-to-date web browsers and associated plugins, like Widevine, for content delivery and digital rights management. If a browser is outdated, it might not be compatible with the required technologies.
  • Hardware limitations: The Stream app needs a certain level of processing power, RAM, and video memory to provide a smooth streaming experience, especially when dealing with high-definition content.
