Xfinity Stream app on my Apple TV

Issue Summary

I’m experiencing a persistent issue with the Xfinity Stream app on my Apple TV. While physically connected to my home network, the app frequently reports that I’m “Out of Home Network”, preventing access to channels and content that require an in-home connection.

Equipment

  • Apple TV (tvOS current)
  • Customer-owned cable modem (not Xfinity gateway)
  • Eero mesh Wi-Fi network
  • Xfinity Internet and Xfinity TV service

Issue Details

  • Apple TV is connected to my home Eero Wi-Fi network.
  • Internet service is working normally.
  • The Xfinity Stream app intermittently or consistently reports that I’m outside my home network even though I’m at home.
  • Restarting the Apple TV and network equipment has not permanently resolved the issue.

Troubleshooting Requested

Please verify:

  1. That my home IP address is correctly registered as my “In-Home” network.
  2. That there are no account provisioning issues affecting Xfinity Stream.
  3. Whether customer-owned modems with an Eero mesh network require any additional configuration.
  4. Whether my account needs an in-home network refresh or reauthorization.
  5. Whether there are any known issues affecting Apple TV devices with Xfinity Stream.

If needed, I can provide:

  • Apple TV model
  • Modem make/model
  • Eero model
  • Public IP address
  • Date/time the error occurs
  • Screenshots of the error message

At this point I’d appreciate escalation beyond standard reboot troubleshooting, as the issue appears related to home network recognition rather than Internet connectivity.

user_dvpsc0 Thank you so much for these details and for reaching out for help with your Apple TV and our Xfinity streaming app. From what you described, it sounds like it may be an issue with the internal antenna for the TV. There are a few things you can do to test this. I would recommend using a mobile device and the stream app to see if you run into the same issue when using the Xfinity Stream app on a different device in your home on the same network. If not, that points us back to the TV. Some TVs can be picky on what part of the network they connect to. With most Wifi networks, there are two sides of the signal: 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Most of the time, when using one of our gateways, when a new device is connected to the network, based on what it is and a few other things, it would automatically be connected to one or the other. With our networks, we do combine those signals into one network name so it is easier to manage, but you can still split them and have each listed with its own name. Check out this support page to see how to do that change on your Xfinity app.

Once split, I would try both different connections with the Apple TV to see if one works better than the other to stop those messages. If after the split you still get the message on both networks, please let me know.
