xfinity stream fast forward button not accessible for in-progress recordings on LG tv.

The fast forward button appears but cannot be selected for in-progress recordings when running xfinity stream on ethernet connected LG tv, even if program has run for 30+minutes (no "catch-up"). This change happened sometime in the last month for recordings on multiple channels.  I have hard reset tv, uninstalled and reinstalled app with no success. If viewing xfinity stream on wifi at home, I cannot access in-progress recordings online through google chrome because "I'm not on my home network" (although I am) - so I cannot test the fast forward on a different device.

Update: After disabling VPN, I can access and adjust time position on in-progress recordings via xfinity stream on google chrome on computer - advance 30 seconds forward as well as moving time slide. So appears to be issue on LG tv only - possibly software update (LG or Xfinity) rendering function incompatible.

Hello @user_1g37kz, thank you for taking the time to leave a post. I can certainly understand how frustrating this must be, especially when a feature that was previously working for in-progress recordings suddenly stops functioning despite your efforts to troubleshoot it. Thank you for providing the troubleshooting steps you've already taken. To help us narrow down the cause, was there a recent software or firmware update on your LG TV before this issue began?

@XfinityMarshante Thank you for your attention to this.

LG tv is model 43UP7670PUC manufactured 01/2022. Software is set to Auto Update, so it is difficult to track changes, however the current LG software listed version is 03.53.45 with no further update which appears to have been released 09/2025 - so it does not appear there was was an LG update before/after this issue. The tv was unused and unplugged for 3 weeks 07/16-08/07.

Reinstalled Xfinity Stream version says it is 1.14.4 updated 10/11/2022, but hard to believe it hasn't been updated since, and when I look at Settings/About it reports version 2.6.0.

Hope that helps.

Thank you for providing those additional details. That information is very helpful.

Based on your testing, it does appear the issue is isolated to the Xfinity Stream app on the LG TV rather than the recording itself. The fact that you're able to fast-forward and adjust the playback position through Xfinity Stream in a browser after disabling the VPN suggests the in-progress recording functionality is working on the account side.

I also appreciate you confirming the LG software version and app information. Since you've already reinstalled the app, power-cycled the TV, and tested the functionality through another device, we've ruled out several common causes.

I'd like to document these findings, including that the issue affects multiple channels, is limited to the LG TV app, and began within the last month. That should help determine whether this is related to a recent compatibility issue with the Xfinity Stream app on LG devices. In the meantime, have you noticed this behavior with all in-progress recordings, or only certain channels and programs?

@XfinityLinda

Thank you for your prompt response.  Some additional notes/clarifications:

The FF issue referred to above (and issues noted below) relates to all in-progress recordings for all programs and from all channels.

In addition, the Rewind function has changed from allowing rewind at 1x, 2x, 3x, "Lightning" speed to only jumping back 5-10 seconds anytime the RW button is selected - multiple selections result in multiple jumps - but no smooth rewinding at any speed.

There has also been a change in options when selecting a recording.  Traditionally, and for completed recordings, options (buttons) to Resume or Restart the recording are available.  For in-progress recordings, these have been replaced with a single "Watch" button which starts the recording from the beginning - even for previously viewed in-progress recordings that have progressed well into the program.

While I first noticed these issues on my LG tv's Xfinity Stream App, the same issues appy to the Xfinity Stream App on my Samsumg tv.  So it appears to be an Xfinity compatibility issue rather than solely an LG compatibility issue.
