The Xfinity Stream app freezing can stem from various reasons, including app version issues, internet connection problems, and device-specific glitches. To troubleshoot, ensure the app is updated, restart your device and modem/router, and try logging out and back in.
Hello @user_cf7n2g, Thank you for taking the time to leave a post. I hope you are having a great day. I can understand how frustrating this may be when you are ready to watch your favorite show, and it freezes. If this is a smart TV, do you have issues with other apps? Have you tried rebooting the modem? Is the TV software up-to-date?
This app is awful on our 1 year old Samsung Smart TV. It works fine on a Roku stick, on an old Chromecast, and iPads. Everything else works fine. Just not Xfinity. It was fair for most of the first year. We've updated, removed, reinstalled app, cleared app cache, rebooted router and tv. We can sometimes get it to work once or twice but then have to go back through all the "fixes" to maybe get it working again. We are now at the point of trying once then screen mirroring from a different device. This is ridiculous. Your
team needs to figure this [Edited: "Language"] app out.
@user_30ceb6 We're sorry to hear you are having trouble with the app on your Samsung Smart TV.
Here are the steps for connecting the Xfinity app on your Samsung Smart TV:
Samsung TV setup
The Xfinity Stream app is available on Samsung Smart TVs 2018 to current.
The Xfinity Stream app is no longer available on 2017 Samsung TVs. In order for the Stream app to effectively deliver high video quality, it needs to be running on a TV with more than 2 GB of available memory.
Follow these steps to determine your Samsung TV model and software version:
Make sure your Samsung Smart TV is connected to the internet.
Press the Smart Hub button on your Smart Control remote to go to the Samsung Home screen.
Scroll to and select the Settings icon (gear to the right).
Arrow down to Support.
Arrow right, then down, then select About this TV.
From here, you'll see the Model Code, Serial Number, Software Version, etc.
Next, follow these steps to add the Xfinity Stream app to your compatible Samsung Smart TV:
Make sure your Samsung Smart TV is connected to the internet.
Press the Smart Hub button on your Smart Control remote to go to the Samsung Home screen.
Scroll to and select Apps.
Select the Magnifying Glass icon.
Enter Xfinity Stream using the on-screen keyboard and select Done.
Select the Xfinity Stream app and then choose Download.
Once installation is complete, select Open to start using the Xfinity Stream app.
When asked, register your device and sign in with your Xfinity ID and password.
If you are still experiencing issues please let us know.

This is the most frustrating internet connection I’ve ever had - like being in the 1990’s. The TVs keep losing and reconnecting internet services and when streaming, the content freezes. I’ve rebooted everything and all devices are up to date on their software. I would never use Xfinity mobile since the internet is so unreliable. And the Xfinity remote keeps flipping to different channels while trying to channel surf. I used to have Spectrum and never had these problems.
@user_159b83 Thanks for adding to the thread. We can help make sure you have a proper connection with the steps here https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/internet-connectivity-troubleshooting. That will ensure you enjoy your service and speeds that you pay for successfully.

The same thing happens to me when I'm trying to watch programing on via my Xfinity streaming app. I don't experience the freezing issue when watching programing on any of my other streaming apps, (i.e., Netflix, Prime, YouTube, etc.). This freezing issue only occurs when I'm watching programing via my Xfinity streaming app. Xfinity has not been able to figure out why this is happening, and I've tried every troubleshooting fix that they have provided. I've also had the maker of my television brand (Samsung) log into my television remotely to make sure that it was not my television causing the problem. However, I knew it wasn't my television because all of my other streaming apps work perfectly fine. This has been going on for almost one-year now. We're now in football season and it's extremely annoying watching a game and then the picture freezes.
Hello @user_ud1ns3, thank you for leaving a comment. I understand you've already tried all the recommended troubleshooting steps and even contacted the manufacturer, but the issue with the freezing still persists. Do you happen to have multiple TVs or another brand besides Samsung? If so, are you experiencing the same issue across all your smart TVs, or is it isolated to just the Samsung one?

Hey @dansgen1alero! Are you still experiencing issues with the Xfinity Stream? Is this only on the website or app as well? Can you tell us more about what steps you have tried for troubleshooting, if you are still experiencing trouble with the freezing?

Having major issues..The xfinity stream app rarely works with my Samsung tv..It's a newer tv...It buffers all the time, freezes, and has major glitches. Why am I paying for a streaming service I can't use. If I didn't have my cell phones with xfinity, I'd leave the company entirely. Xfinity hasn't updated their app in almost a year. I dont have tue problem with any other apps.

Add me to the list of customers with big problems with your app. Like everyone else above, mine is constantly buffering whenever I use it now. It's always been an issue, but it's been way worse the past couple months. This doesn't happen with any other streaming service and doesn't happen on the TV that is connected to a xfinity box. It's the app! I've tried all the troubleshooting as well.
Thanks for reaching out to us we do apologize for any inconvenience you're having using the Xfinity streaming app.
Can you give us a little more detail on what type of device you are using the Xfinity streaming app on?

Thank you I have an LG TV that I use the Xfinity streaming app on as well it works great on my upstairs TV which is close to my modem, but since my home is built out of plaster the connection on my downstairs TV comes and goes as I would need some kind of Wi-Fi extender or hardwire my TV.
One thing you can try is jumping on your TV settings and going to the area to clear your caches and cookies, then try uninstalling & reinstalling the app, you'll also want to check the Wi-Fi signal that's coming into your TV to make sure it's a strong connection to be able to run the Xfinity app without any buffering issues.
But when it comes to Wi-Fi there's so many variables that can happen, have you tried hardwiring that TV to your modem to see if that gives you a better streaming connection on the Xfinity app

Same problem, only it happens on two different 4G Apple TVs. Other streaming Apps work fine. (Apple TV, Netflix, Passport Amazon all work.)
XFinity program momentarily freezes at least once an hour. Sometimes more, and when that happens sometimes only the audio comes back, leaving a black screen with swirling indicator. This is fixed, often just temporarily, by going back to the menu and choosing the program again.

Ended up moving to YouTube TV. Xfinity doesn't put the effort to maintain their streaming app like other streaming services.
