2.4 GHz devices lost connection

About 2-3 times per year, all of my devices that require a 2.4 GHz network lose connection. This includes my Xfinity Home Security touch screen, security cameras, and doorbell. This issue has been reported a number of times over the past few years but none of the posted solutions work. The ridiculous thing is that the Xfinity proposed solution is to buy a second router to connect to the Xfinity router. How about Xfinity fix their router so this doesn’t happen? The only thing that has worked for me is wait a few days and the issue goes away.

Restarting the router has no effect. Since the bands were combined, allowing devices to choose the best network, we no longer have the ability to manually split the bands.

Xfinity, please offer a better solution. This is a long-standing issue that you have not addressed.

Hello J_East

Appreciate you reaching out for help! Do you also have xFi pods in the home? Our team can easily help you with exploring getting all this sorted out. When you said that 2-3 time per year this happens, is this something that requires you to reboot the system or is it just updating quickly and then back on and connected?

I do not have xfi pods. Rebooting the router does nothing. Usually after a few days, the 2.4 network starts working again. It went out again yesterday and is still out.

I have the same problem, and it has happened multiple times before as well.  Super frustrating.

@JRising I’m sorry to hear you're having issues with your connection. Our team is here to help. Have you tried using one Wi-Fi networks? Band steering is great but if you simply your network it allows the system to use the best available connection to keep your devices optimal.

I have a link that goes into band steering more https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/benefits-same-wifi-network-password-name-xfi-gateway

Have you performed any troubleshooting steps?
