Accessing gateway settings on Arris TG1682P modem/router for NOW internet

Hi,

I am having difficulty accessing the gateway settings on my Arris TG1682P modem/router for NOW internet. I am trying to put the modem/router in bridge mode so that I can setup a tp-link deco mesh wifi system. When I try to log into the gateway settings via http://10.0.0.1 it keeps telling me incorrect password. I am using the default login credentials- admin/password. I’ve tried resetting the modem, but it continues to reject the login credentials. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!! 🙏

You can follow the link: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/troubleshooting-your-cable-modem with different ways to do a factory reset on the modem. Since you are unable to use the Admin Tool a factory reset will require using a small object, such as a paper clip or pin, to hold in the Reset button on the back of the Gateway for 30 seconds until all the LED lights power off. If prompted, you will be required to create a custom WiFi name and password and reconnect devices to your home network using these credentials. @user_ey82yd

I have tried resetting through the app, website, as well as pressing the reset button in the back of the unit. It still says incorrect password :/

After scouring our documentation, I was unable to find anything that states we allow the modems to be changed. The NOW Internet service is to be a plug-in-play service where there is not an option to really change or modify the service. Our internal documentation simply states customers are not allowed to use their own networking equipment and does not go into further detail about it. I would assume you're unable to get into the modem's backend settings due to it being gated. To gain more access to the modem settings and even use your own equipment you would want to explore upgrading to Xfinity Internet.

I have Xfinity NOW and was able to successfully log into this gateway and put it in bridge mode. The Xfinity rep at the store told me that I cannot use my own modem, however I can use my Asus router.
