Admin Tool password

Hey, everyone. I recently moved and with that, I was given an XB8 router/modem. I am trying to set the router to Bridge mode but I have been unable to access the admin portal as the usual sticker at the bottom of the router isn't there.

Logins I've tried:

  • admin / password
  • account ID / password for the Xfinity app
  • admin / password for the Xfinity app
  • account ID / password
  • admin / default config password for WiFi
  • account ID / default config password for WiFi

I have also tried on Safari browser, Firefox, Brave, and Chrome for logging in. I've seen other posts that the Admin Tool functions are being moved to the Xfinity app, but the Xfinity app tells me that those functions are automatically configured and I am unable to configure them. I tried calling Xfinity support but they stated they do not give out the password anymore. Is this a case where I will have to purchase my own Modem or VPN tunnel into my network for my homelab?

I do apologize for the inconvenience, over the next few weeks, the Admin Tool accessed via http://10.0.0.1 on your home network will be turned off to help keep your Wifi as secure as possible. You can now easily manage your Wifi setting and equipment with the Xfinity APP.-rICHARD

Will all of the functionality from the Admin Tool be transferred over to the Xfinity App then? Myself and other super users require the Bridge mode tool, firewall tools, etc., to service our own WiFi needs and security settings.

The Xfinity app will provide a user-friendly interface for managing Wi-Fi settings, but it does not offer all the advanced features available in the Admin Tool. You can via the app however toggle the Admin tool to make it accessible should you need to. If you need to access the Admin Tool, use the following instructions to enable access.

  1. Visit the WiFi tab in the Xfinity app.
  2. Select View WiFi equipment and open Advanced settings.
  3. Select Admin Tool online access.
  4. Slide the toggle button to Allow Admin Tool access.
  5. Select Save.

The Admin Tool online access doesn't seem to have been pushed out to the Xfinity app, just the previous options as before. I'm assuming that will be updated once the migration from the Admin Tool happens?

@user_tn3uey You are exactly right in your assumption. We are in the process of migrating many of the functionalities from the traditional Admin Tool directly into the Xfinity app. Because this is a large-scale project, it is being rolled out in phases.
