Advanced WiFi Settings questions
Hello,
I'm trying to connect a Smart Garage Control, but gives me an error, I called them and they sent me the internet requirements the device needs in order to work properly. Can somebody let me know if my internet has them please?
Wi-Fi Channel
myQ recommends that the router's Wi-Fi channel (1 - 11) be set to a single channel and not set to auto channel. myQ Wi-Fi products will work with the router's Wi-Fi set to auto channel, but the myQ Wi-Fi product may have to disconnect and reconnect to your network if the router auto-changes the Wi-Fi channel. Channels 1, 6, and 11 are the suggested Wi-Fi channels for myQ Wi-Fi products.
Advanced Wi-Fi Settings:
Ports Required for myQ Products to Communicate with the myQ Server
Verify inbound and outbound TCP port 8883 is open. Verify the port is not being blocked by your router or a firewall product. Not having this port open will cause the myQ Wi-Fi product to not connect to the server. Note: User modified routers using an open-source firmware (such as DD-WRT, OpenWRT, etc.) have not been tested with myQ products. While some of these open-source versions may work with the myQ products, compatibility is unknown.
DHCP Enabled
Ensure you have DHCP enabled. Having DHCP enabled allows the router to assign a LAN IP address to the myQ product.
802.11 Wireless Network
Ensure you have 802.11g or 802.11n (802.11 b/g/n) enabled. myQ Wi-Fi products support 802.11 b/g/n but do not support 802.11 ac.
MAC Address Filtering
If you have your router's MAC address filtering enabled, the MAC addresses of the myQ product(s) must be added to the list of authorized devices. You can review the MAC addresses of all devices on your network with your router's software.
Thank you,
Maribel

Hey there user_2th5pf. I am more than happy to assist you today. I can understand the concern if you are having trouble connecting your Smart Garage Control. What is the error message you are receiving? Our gateways have multiple channels or bands within, usually device will automatically connect to the channel they are best suited for.

Are you using the MyQ app to set up your Smart Garage Control? Also, if the error you’re seeing says “Bluetooth disconnected” then that has absolutely nothing to do with your modem/router.
Whichever device you’re using to connect your Smart Garage Control to your network, is having Bluetooth issues, or your smart garage control is having Bluetooth issues. Either way, nothing to do with your modem. So changing settings on your modem, or troubleshooting your internet connection, is not going to help.
