All out internet and TV connection failure

If there is a significant amount of snow on top of a cable utility box that is located outside, could that affect your internet and tv service up to the point of no service. If so, I would like to understand why this would occur since I thought the utility box is wired and what feeds the home is wired. Is there some type of communication satellite link that is interupted by the snow barrier that could trip a switch and cause a failure of service to occur??

Hello, @user_yzihpj thank you for reaching out over Xfinity Forums. That is a great question, regarding weather and service interruptions. Snow build up can cause issue, if the elements have gotten into the lines or connection points. Our lines are attached with weather seal connectors to help as much as possible, I wanted to let you know I live WA state and get winter weather (freezing, snow) and over the 10 years I've had service only a handful of interruptions in the winter.

If there are any reported service interruptions, you can check for updates on a mobile device either at the status center: https://www.xfinity.com/support/status or Xfinity App, here is a helpful article
