Brightspeed to Xfinity
I have brightspeed and am switching to Xfinity but we use fiber and as far as im aware we don't have a modem anywhere, I have my own router and want to be aware if I need to buy my own modem. I am moving into the house so I don't fully know the internet setup but the current homeowner knows nothing about a modem being anywhere

Yes, cable internet uses a modem in a way that is analogous to the ONT in a fiber internet system. If the current homeowner knows nothing (and assuming they have internet) then I would guess that they are probably renting an Xfinity gateway. (A modem and router combined.) In many houses, there is just one cable outlet behind the TV so the gateway gets put there and forgotten. I've also seen homes where the gateway is in the garage just inside where the exterior Xfinity box is.

@strega7 Thank you!
@chaomex Welcome to Xfinity! We're happy to see you've made the move. We'll be happy to check the location to see if it's one of our X-Class locations. This would mean the modem should be on-site. Sometimes tenants think they need to return these modems, but they need to stay with the apartment. If this is not the case, we'll assist further. Please send us a Direct Message with your full name and complete service address. We look forward to hearing from you.
