cable splitter

For some reason the cable guy put a splitter on my cable. Only one of the two jacks is in use. Do I need this splitter for some reason? I am configuring a new computer and wonder if I can eliminate this piece of equipment.

Thank you,

user_95a1a8 - Thank you for posting your question here on the Xfinity Forums! Splitters have multiple uses, including connecting multiple devices to a single cable outlet. If you have a free outlet go ahead and try adjusting or removing it if you prefer.

@user_95a1a8 @XfinityThomasA Many techs use them as a signal attenuator, so it may be needed.

@user_95a1a8

What do the modem's signal status values look like ? Try getting them here; http://192.168.100.1 or here http://10.0.0.1

Please copy all of the text in its entirety of the *Downstream Power Levels*, the *SNR's* (Signal to Noise Ratios), and the *Upstream Power Level* numbers and paste them into your next post.
