Can't log in to XB8

Up until recently, I've never had the need to log in to my XB8. This was a sealed in the box, new unit that I received last year. I've tried the ID & PW on the bottom of the unit along with 'admin & password'. Both are incorrect and after several attempts, it locks me out for 5 mins. I'm hoping to avoid doing a factory reset as I have numerous devices that would require set up again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I should clarify that I have no other problems other than login to the gateway router settings so I can create a 2.4 guest acct.

Hello user_42ek3d. Thanks for reaching out and sharing the trouble you are having with managing the network on the XB8. I'm sorry that the admin tool is not accepting the credentials. I believe the issue is that the network settings would have to be managed through the Xfinity app for our Xfi gateways. To manage the 2.4, 5 or 6 GHz networks the option should be available under the Advanced settings area. Are you using any xfi pods or a home mesh system? If so, you may not be able to separate the available networks to create a guest network.

@XfinityPaula your instructions did NOT explain how to log into the route. You gave instructions for WIFI name and password (as in what your guests use to log on). I too am having trouble logging into the ROUTER to change the log in from the default on the bottom of the router to a more secure password to prevent identity theft.

user_95d7dc Support for a third-party router would be a little out of our area since it is not our device. I know our gateway router combos have an admin tool. You can access the admin tool while connected to your WiFi network and access http://10.0.0.1 from a web browser.
