CM1100 on Xfinity X2 Upload speed

I just upgraded to Xfinity X2, which promises 2gbps/300mbps. I have a CM1100 Docsis3.1, which in theory should be capable of supporting the speeds. However, I see that I am getting capped at 800mbps/40mbps. I care about the upload speeds. I want to see if there's anything that can be done to increase the upload speed to 300mbps.

It'd be a shame if I had to buy a new modem, as I had purchased the CM1100 just a year ago based on its Docsis3.1 capability. Any tips?

You are not going to get the proper speeds with that modem because it is currently not certified by them for the Next Gen speeds, so the proper speed configuration file will not be pushed to it.

These are currently the only devices that have been certified for Next Gen speeds;

We totally get why you'd want to make the most of your Xfinity X2 plan, especially when it comes to upload speeds! The CM1100 is a solid DOCSIS 3.1 modem, but the key issue here is that it only supports two upstream channels, which limits its max upload speed to around 40-50 Mbps. Even though it's DOCSIS 3.1, it doesn’t support the newer multi-gig upload speeds that Xfinity X2 offers.

Right now, Xfinity X2’s 300 Mbps upload requires a modem with more upstream channels or support for the newer DOCSIS 4.0/High-Split technology, which isn't something the CM1100 can handle. Unfortunately, that does mean you'd need a different modem to fully unlock the higher upload speeds.

If you want to take full advantage of X2's upload speeds, upgrading to a compatible modem like the XB8/XB7 gateway (if renting) or a newer retail modem that supports high-split uploads would be the way to go.
