Coax Cable Melting

This is the 2nd time my coax cable is melting and my internet is down and I if my house catches on fire I will sue Xfinity for everything they have bc it is their problem!!!!!  I spoke to an electrician and their ground is pulling from my ground wire, but the tech’s of course want to take zero responsibility for this!  My electrical wiring is 3 years old!  I have basically been down for 2 days now and missed work and I am livid!  I notice multiple people having this issue and it’s always blamed on the home’s electrical system instead of the cable bc they don’t want any responsibility!!!!!!

I doubt I would be nominated as an Xfinity fanboy but this may not be their issue. I would suspect an issue with your power utility. Your power utility grounds their neutral at your premise.  If it is loose or other poor connection, it looks for any other path to ground.  In this case, it is using the grounded shield braid of the coax.  There just is not enough power in the signal that Xfinity sends to you to ever melt the coax.  This is a power company grounding issue.

I am going to respond to my own comment here because assuming this is a poor ground on the power company neutral wire it can be dangerous, causing lights to flicker or appliances to be harmed.  The Xfinity person may have accidentally disturbed the power company ground when they installed or it could be the power company did not properly torque connections.  Regardless of fault, it needs to get fixed and worth having your utility company come out to confirm.
