Constant intermittent latency at all hours of the day, effects all web-enabled apps

For the last month and a half, my home network has been experiencing brief bouts of severe latency (e.g. when a Discord call gets tinny, the ping exceeds 5000ms). This happens throughout the day and effects any application that interacts with the network. An Xfinity technician has already been out to our residence to check and shore up the cabling (some fittings got replaced, the cable routing to our discrete modem was replaced) and the issue continues to happen.

I am using an SB8200 modem and a LinkSys MR20EC router; I have set the router to use the Cloudflare DNS for IPv4 devices (doesn't have controls for IPv6, doesn't seem?). These devices are less than a year old and were purchased together, and these symptoms did not occur for the first 5 or so months of service at this residence.

I ran some traceroute commands during tonight's constant barrage of latency spikes (seven in the last hour alone), pinging Google and Discord and getting the following results.

Can anyone assist me in figuring out of this is some sort of routing issue with local infrastructure? Or any other suggestions with regard to home network settings? Maybe divine out some information that I can bring to Xfinity and go 'fix your local [Edited: Language]'?

same exact issue here starting roughly a month and a half ago as well, and i'm in Minnesota. voice call quality drops constantly all hours of the day and video streams freeze up. nothing wrong on my end locally. no fix yet either.

I know inconsistent internet connections are a pain to deal with, and I appreciate you taking the time to let us know what's going on in our community forums user_qr1vj4. You've definitely come to the right place, and I'm glad to provide any support I can 👍

Are you using your own modem for your internet service?

Have you attempted or completed any troubleshooting up to this point, such as manually power cycling your mode?

@XfinitySeth I'm using an Xfinity modem. They gave me a new one thinking it might fix the issue, but it hasn't. All it has fixed is me not completely disconnecting. Still tons of lag on Discord and video streams all day long. I've tried every troubleshooting option available.

Thank you for the update @user_qr1vj4.  With the other modem, would you be able to check and ensure all connections are tight along with ensuring there are no hard bends, kinks, bite marks, or cuts that could interfere with the communication of the modem? Can you also visit our 'Tips for troubleshooting your Xfinity Internet connection' knowledge base to see if you are able to view the signal levels of the modem to see if there are any signal levels that are out of specification? We hope to hear from you soon.

All cords and connections are in tact within my unit, but I'm in an apartment building. They have been doing a lot of digging and road construction outside my place for many months.

Thank you very much for the screenshot @user_qr1vj4! The downstream receive power levels do appear out of specification as well as seeing a lot of correctable/uncorrectables. I would like to look further into the account and equipment to see if a technician may be recommended.
