Constant Outages

What is the deal with the multiple outages, for hours at a time, daily recently? The app always just lists unknown network damage as the cause. This has gotten extremely old, especially when you work from home.

Thanks for reaching out to us, Service interruptions can happen for various reasons whether it's due to power loss, natural disasters, severe weather, network issues or even network upgrades. This link https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/check-service-outage has great information on how to stay updated on the service interruptions that may happen in your area

This is the exact, verbatim response the chat bot gives you from the app. The possible reasons for outages are common sense, listing them provides no assistance. It does not explain the current ongoing issue. What is the problem and when will it end? I'm also well aware of how to track the status of my service, one of them being simply if I'm online or not. Your texts aren't what keeps us in the loop, and the time estimates of restoral are never something to depend on.

Hello @user_5go3j1, I understand how these issues can become frustrating. I will have the same response if I had this problem. Unfortunately, there are several events that happen that does require us to come out and service different areas that can effect several homes and businesses. We make these swift decisions to prevent long term issues. Are you currently having any outage issues at the moment?

When your service is garbage a majority of the time I think its time to start charging less and having lower expectations of speeds on your listed available packages. Fiber is cheaper than your garbage and im literally about to call and drop your garbage service. My speed has been at a solid 10mbps for the past 2 days when im paying for 1.2gb.

Not at this very moment no, but it's been coming and going, like I said for hours at a time for days. There is no explanation as to what is going on, no warning. If you check the app, or shoot "outage" to the text number the response provided is exactly what was previously given here. Try to call and you get redirected to a recording or placed on hold until you have to hang up. 30 minutes is my max holding to try and get through, believe that's beyond fair on any customer's part. Maybe when someone has no other current option for internet in their area, the desire for customer satisfaction just isn't there, but yes, cost keeps getting more outrageous. We'll see what happens when other providers are finally available.

I understand your concerns the Xfinity app is not going to tell you exactly what's happening what's going on in the area for the service interruption, that would just be too much detail to add and could cause too much confusion.

If it's a general service interruption due to weather or power loss, those will be listed as unplanned service interruptions and we'll just let you know that there's a service interruption in the area

if there's plan maintenance you will generally get a notification a day or two before that will let you know that they're doing some planned maintenance work in the area as well as if they're updating your area to the new enhanced network you would get a notification that that works about to begin and you may experience service interruptions throughout the week until the work is completed for the enhanced network

I've heard that before. I've mentioned that in my own post, both here and under customer service.

Xfinity is the biggest waste of money ever. Im currently looking into someone else due to having lower speeds and connection loss most of the time.  The past 2 months I've had to use my Hotspot on my phone more than my own wifi. So pathetic.
