Current Netgear modem model XB8-T

I am having buffering issues and wonder if there is a newer modem that Xfinity offers/

Greetings, @ I hope your week has been treating you well. Thanks so much for taking a moment out of your busy day to leave a post on our community forum. I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with buffering, but you have definitely come to the right place for assistance.

 

Can you tell me a little more about what's happening? Are you seeing buffering on all devices on your network, or is it just on a device or devices that are farther away from your XB8? What kind of download speeds are you typically seeing? You should be able to stream in 4K at 50 Mbps, so if your speeds are below that, it could be a range or signal issue. Please let us know.

On a recorded program when I either fast forward or fast rewind after resuming normal speed the screen will go black with the message "your video is still loading".  The spinning wheel will do so for 20 seconds or so, then stop for less than a second, then start up again the picture comes back after about 5 more seconds. This does not happen every time but perhaps every 10 times or so.  And it mostly happens on my DirecTV app.  DirecTV has done all checking with their app and my system and tell me it's not the app that's causing it.

Thank you for clarifying, @user_4p9bt1. That is definitely a frustrating issue to deal with. I'm not too familiar with the DirecTV system. Do you have an onsite device with a hard drive that stores your recordings for later playback on your TV or through the app, or are recordings stored in the cloud? Does the app perform better when you are on mobile data or connected to another Wi-Fi network outside the home?
