Dell Latitude does not see xFinity WiFi network

Installed our new Xfinity Gateway Modem/Router xFI TG02DCW4482CT.  It replaced our owned Arris cable modem SB8200v2 and Linksys router WRT3200ACM.  After activating it  using our old SSID and WPA2, all devices connect with ethernet and WiFi except a Dell Latitude E6540 running Windows 10 Pro.  A HP laptop also running Windows 10 Pro sees and connects to the wireless network just fine.  Both are running Win 10 Pro with the same fixes.  Also both run McAfee if that matters.  The Dell has an Intel AC 7260 dual-band wireless adaptor running its latest driver 18.33.11.2 from 10/31/2017.  The only adapter setting changed is Preferred Band to 3-5 GHz.  This Dell works fine with the old Arris/Linksys setup.

Texted with Xfinity support Ayush for an hour and got nowhere.  My circumvention is connecting the old Linksys WRT3200ACM to an ethernet port of the Xfinity xFI got the Dell connected.  I checked the network map of the Linksys and see just the Dell.

I also can't connect the Dell at 2 other houses that have xFI modem/routers.

Hi there and welcome to Comcast! Thank you so much for reaching out to us regarding the laptop you are not able to connect to the Xfinity Network. Now McAfee should not affect your connection to the network. I wonder if your laptop is blocking the Xfinity network, have you checked your Wi-Fi setting on your laptop?

Thanks for the reply.  There are literally 100s of settings in Windows, regedit and the device driver.  I have no problem connecting my Dell laptop at hotels and home.  Do you have any specific settings to check ?

user_s797kr My team will stick with you here until we figure this out together. Does your Dell Latitude have an ethernet port? Any issues with a hardwired connection?

Wired Ethernet to the Xfinity modem/router works fine to the Dell.  The Dell laptop connects fine to my old Linksys router that's connected to the Xfinity modem/router.

user_s797kr Thank you for confirming that for me. What happens when you turn off the Preferred Band setting, so it can see all WiFi bands, then forget the network from the Dell Latitude, and try connecting to the wireless network?

My driver Advanced Setting for the Preferred Band has only 3 settings:

  1. No Preference

  2. Prefer 2.4 GHz

  3. Prefer 5.2 GHz (current selection)

There is a Fat Channel Intolerant setting which is currently disabled for the driver.  I cannot find any value that mentions WiFi Bands.  I do see frequencies in the Linksys router under Admin.

In Windows\Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections\Network\Properties  Every option is checked which I believe is by default except Microsoft Network Adapter Multiplexor Protocol.

My current WiFi connection to my Linksys is WiFi 4 802.11n using 2.4 Ghz.

Suggestions ?  Other than returning the Xfinity xFI modem/router and usie my equipment that is.

No.  The Dell Win10 laptop does not connect to any Xfinity home network via wireless.
