devices on ethernet switch not working

I got a new switch for some wired devices that don't have wifi and it seems like it's not working right. If I restart the switch, the devices have a connection for a few minutes and then they become unavailable. I thought maybe it was my Apple TV causing the problem but it still happens with that device disconnected. It's almost like they keep losing their DHCP leases.

The modem is an XB8-T and the switch is a TP-Link TL-SG116.

Hi @user_c0bbbf

Thank you for reaching out. I hope you are doing well today. I see you have a new device, and you need some additional help. I want to start by thanking you for being a part of the Xfinity family and also for reaching out to us here for assistance. We are a full-service team, so you've come to the right place. Did you add the switch because you need more space, or were you running into issues with the existing ports? Can you let me know any troubleshooting steps you've taken so far?

I needed more Ethernet ports. It turned out the new switch needed a better cable.

user_c0bbbf Thank you for that information. It is possible you can pick up that cable at a nearby Xfinity Service center if they have any extras available. If it turns out not to be long enough, or they don't have extras you can purchase one from a local box store or online. That is not something we can place an order for and send you.
