Disabling public wifi hotspots on XB7

Situation: I'm using this in bridge mode. I am able to stop broadcasting what would be "my" wifi networks (both guest and private on all available bands) but there is no current way in the admin panel to disable ALL wireless signals coming from the device. Meaning, the XB7 continues to broadcast "Public" networks.

I don't consent.

Tell me how to disable it or tell me I agreed to this in the 10,000 word ToS.

Reading material for people who don't think I [Edited: "Language"]:

  • "Sir, it takes time to turn off" - It's been in bridge mode with NO broadcast that I've consented to for about 10 weeks now.
  • "Sir, that is probably from your neighbor" - Funny how I can magically make these public networks vanish by unplugging the XB7.
  • "Sir, it does not affect your speeds" - I pay for a GIG, I get maybe 300mbps on a good day. Upload is like 5mbps. Let's not even discuss the the ethics of footing the bill for Xfinity's power consumption.
    • "That is YOUR networks fault!" - Literally bridge mode to a properly configured enterprise UniFi system which runs the tests.
    • "Hmm, sir maybe your line is bad. Schedule a tech" - Done. Had a fresh line laid. Tech couldn't break 200mbps either. Said it'd improve, left. It did not.
  • "Have you tried this irrelevant post? I am trying to increase my numbers on this forum" - Why are you even here, bro?

Truth be told, this is a final attempt at a resolution before tapping into the widespread customer angst and making a video where I make a faraday cage around the XB7.

Apparently a popular acronym regarding "Reading The Manual" is a no no. Thanks for the edit. That could have had a lot of bad PR. I also appreciate my new username. Thanks for that.

Thanks for posting on our community forums, user_04mm3. The best way to manage your Wi-Fi hotspot and gain access to the admin too would be through our Xfinity App. You can disable the hotspot by selecting Wi-Fi > View Wi-Fi equipment > Advanced Settings > Xfinity Wi-Fi Hotspot network. You will also find the option to allow access to the admin tool there.

I disabled the Wi-Fi Hotspot network on my XB8 and then put it in bridge mode to avoid interference with my mesh network.

My account identifies that it is disabled.

My XB8 is still broadcasting the xfinitywifi and Xfinity Mobile APs.

How do I disable these APs?

@XfinityDilary "WiFi Equipment" does not exist in the "Wifi" section of the app. Latest version, Android.

The only options that aren't upsells are "Troubleshoot" and "Wifi Hotspots". The latter is irrelevant as it pertains to how I interact with other xfinity wifi networks.

That's odd, it sounds like the gateway isn't registering if it isn't appearing in the app. We'd be more than happy to take a closer look if you'd like! Please send us a direct message with your full name, name on the account (if different), and service address, and we'll dig in.

To send a direct message, please click on the chat icon in the top-right corner of the screen, and select "Xfinity Support" to initiate a live chat.

• Click "Sign In" if necessary

• Click the "direct messaging" icon or https://comca.st/3J0ir1l

• Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

• Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

• Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

• Press Enter to send
