Enhancement to network?

For 7 days they were working to enhance the network in my area. Yesterday the text said it was complete. How can I find out WHAT they did as zero info was given.I tried chat on here and it was absolutely no help.  I am hoping it was to increase speed as 35 upload is horrible and areas all around us now have 2000 download and upload. My son just bought a house 5 minutes from me and Xfinity at his house is 2000 download and 2000 upload. How do I find out if faster speeds will be available soon where I live?
