Ethernet port 2 connection

Hello! We are having issues getting our 2nd ethernet port to connect. Our modem supplier says that our internet provider must activate our 2nd ethernet port. Are you able to assist?

Only one of the ports on an SB8200 can be active.  Please refer to this thread for more information:

... Only one of the ports on an SB8200 can be active ...

This depends on Comcast/Xfinity. See https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/your-home-network/arris-surfboard-sb8200-how-to-activate-the-second-ethernet-port/656156b71863db460fe7cf5a.

Also: https://arris.my.salesforce-sites.com/consumers/articles/Knowledge/SB8200-Ethernet-Ports says:

Utilize Both Ethernet Ports
The 2nd Ethernet port can be used for Link Aggregation setup or adding additional IP address for Internet service.

@all

I chatted with a Comcast insider about this last week, and AFAIK, there are only one or two market areas left that still offer the additional IP address feature. I'm going to have them check into this.

Hey, everyone!

Just wanted to drop by and add my two cents! When it comes to additional IPs for residential customers, it has been phased out for our Central and Northeast divisions. However, it is still available for our West division. You can see the divisions on this map:

hi I have bridge enabled on the gateway settings and i want to use the "aggregate" set up as my Xfinity Router/Modem has a total of 6 ports, I assume it will allow aggregate set up for my Netgear RS300 which has aggregate assignment port on the back of it. Going into the Xfinity Gateway application, I see a check box [] and it says:  Associate Ethernet Port 2 to XFINITY HOME Network

So will aggregate function be enabled by checking the box?
