firewall log report

I've been having issues with my printer, showing it's offline when trying to print from a device using wifi, also getting warnings that the printer appears to be a different printer then previously used. Then at random times while using my phone I would disconnect and reconnect to the internet for no apparent reason. Logged into my gateway to check the settings and there were some settings that were on that shouldn't have been... changed them back to disabled. Ran a firewall log report and saw all these attempts. I'm not very techy when it comes to router settings. Can someone please look at this and let me know if this is a security issue. From reading other posts I believe it is.

Good afternoon, user_a2fd7d! Thank you for reaching out about your connections with the printer and phone as well as the firewall logs. In the screenshot you shared, those are attempts that could be malicious that the firewall is blocking.

Is the printer connection better since updating the modem settings?

Does the printer need to be on the 2.4 GHz network only? Sometimes if all the networks have the same name and password that will cause problems. We have a way to connect to only that WiFi network if needed. 

Do you use one of our xFi modems or do you own your modem?

Is the number of attempts normal in that short of time? Is there something I can do or not do to prevent the attacks? The printer seems to work fine since we upgraded the modem and made some changes to the default settings. I'll be replacing the Xfinity router, too many issues with it.  The printer probably should be on the 2.4 GHz network only. I'm having it all setup once I get the new equipment.

I'm more concerned about the firewall log and if that's normal.

Hi there, @user_a2fd7d  Thank you so much for your patience, you can most definitely return your modem back to the local Xfinity store and get another one. You can go to xfinity.com/local/store to find the nearest one and even make appointments. In regards to your firewall, there can be lots of reasons. You can have a device(that blacked out MAC) on your network with an ethernet or wifi card which is going bad and spitting out random things to the gateway. The gateway is trying to block the junk and those readouts are the only way it knows to process the problem. Just by seeing that it doesn't mean that it's a bad thing.-Richard
