gateway set up

My equipment is properly plugged in and I can get the flashing white light. I can find the "XFINITYSETUP" wifi on my phone but the set up in the app is not working

user_vpd6gu - This isn't the experience we want! Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app? Alternatively, you can call 1-855-652-3446 and follow the prompts to activate your Xfinity Gateway.

As far as I know, if the light is flashing and not steadily lit, the system can't see the modem to be able to activate it.
