how do I access advanced settings on my gateway such as MAC address filtering

Others have written on this but your answers are not clear on exactly how to access the gateway advanced settings.  Using the app you cannot change the MAC address filtering.  How do you get to the gateway advanced settings using the app or how do you connect your computer to the router and change this setting so that the filtering can be changed to permit the MAC address of my HP printer?

Thank you for reaching out about the printer and connecting, are you still experiencing issues with this?

If so, let's start here:

  1. Go to the printer's control panel.
  2. Choose Setup. Looks like a wrench icon.
  3. Select Network.
  4. Pick your WiFi network name. (Your printer might call it "SSID.")

Many printers have a Wireless Setup Wizard that walks you through the steps.

  • Don’t see your network? Scroll to the bottom and type in your network name and password.
  • Still not connecting? Try printing a wireless network test report to check for issues.

This is not getting at the issue.  In previous replies you have instructed people to change the MAC address filtering on the gateway - basically to add the MAC address of the printer to the list of permitted devices for the gateway.  WHERE CAN I DO THIS?  I don't see this in the app anywhere.  It seems like I need to connect directly to the gateway but I don't know how to do that to get to this setting.  Can you provide instructions?

Hello @user_ns1vnf in general your printer should automatically connect to your network, but it sounds like you will want to sign into the modem's Admin Tool. Type 10.0.0.1 into your URL and the default credentials are "Admin" and "Password." This article can help us out. https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/wifi-change-admin-tool

The printer used to automatically connect.  But since you upgraded me to the XB8 router, my HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911a printer can no longer connect to the network.  The network test results on the printer indicate that the MAC address filtering may be the problem.  However, I can see that the MAC address filtering is set to allow all devices to connect.  But I still can't connect the printer.  I've tried a dozen times.  It used to connect but this new router is not enabling the connection.  Any ideas?

You may need to log in as suggested above, and what you can try is splitting the bands. The newer gateways tend to steer to the best connection available and that may not be available to older devices to connect to. I would recommend separating the bands and having you try the 2.4 GHz for your printer. Please let me know if that helps!
