How to split 2.4ghz and 5ghz Wi-Fi

I have a XB7 and 3 Wi-Fi extenders. I need to split the Wi-Fi but don't see an option for this online or in the app. I have a device that can only connect to 2.4ghz and I need it to be continuously on that Wi-Fi and not switch to 5ghz because that would make the device stop working. How do I make sure my device stays on 2.4ghz?

You can't split the combined bands if you are using their pods. It's required for them to be able to function.

Hi there, @user_ut0ytn! I have lots of smart bulbs that can only connect to the 2.4 GHz network so I understand. @EG is correct that when you have the WiFi extenders (Pods) that the networks need to stay together. These are the steps I use to connect my devices to just the 2.4 GHz network.

  1. On a device connected to your gateway, open a browser and go to http://10.0.0.1.
  2. Log in to the Admin Tool.
  3. Select Connection, then Wi-Fi.
  4. Click Edit next to 5 GHz.
  5. Select Disable and click Save Settings.
  6. Connect your smart device using its app.
  7. Go back and re-enable the 5 GHz band.

If needed, these are the steps to allow access to the gateway admin tool online, https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/admin-tool-access. Please let us know if this helps or if you have additional questions.

Hi. My son uses a vr game that requires 2.4 ghz. Would this need to be done each time he uses the device? Or will the setting stay at 2.4 ghz each time he plays?
