How to upgrade the data modem without an internet connection???

I posted this question in the wrong forum (App), hence the re-post.

---

Xfinity offered me to upgrade my data modem for free recently, and I took to offer. I live in a rural area with no cell phone signals. After plugging in the new equipment and going through the steps in the app, it just hung there. My guess is that the app needs to talk to the Xfinity server to switch over to the new modem, but since I don't have an internet connection before the new modem is up and running, it couldn't complete the process. What should I do? Thanks.

user_9cr8y0 Thank you so much for stopping into our Xfinity community forums for help with your new modem activation. The Xfinity app is normally needed to complete the activation for a new modem. If not able to use that due to a poor cellular connection, we can better assist.

If you could send our team a direct message with your full name, the name listed on the account (if different), and the service address associated with your account, I'd be more than happy to look into this for you. To send a Direct Message, please click on the chat icon in the top-right corner of the screen, next to the bell icon, and then type or select "Xfinity Support" to initiate a direct message.

why not publish the solution to the above question? And what website is the "direct messaging" described in the cryptic answer?  I have the same issue as the post above. I will have no phone or internet service when I disconnect my old xfinity gateway to replace it with this new xfinity gateway. Seems like I should be able to call an xfinity service rep minutes prior to the disconnect or reserve an "activation time" for the new gateway so it's up and running as I plug in the new gateway? It's comical to request finding a neighbor with service as I read on the Xfinity website. I have 3 days to do this swop, how can i get this done?

Eventually, I did not get additional help from Xfinity. I managed to get just barely enough cell phone signal to activate the new modem.
