HP printer can't connect to network-MAC address filtering by Xfinity router

I recently had to get Xfinity - I was on Quantum with my old HP printer without any problem but I cannot connect with Xfinity - keep getting a message that "MAC address filtering may be enabled on your wireless router". Again, no issues with Quantum since I had it (3 years) but I cannot connect with Xfinity.

Note the word "may".  A lot of devices will say that as a generic guess as to why they can't connect.  Still it's good to check, and if you're not MAC address filtering, then move on to something else.  I have used MAC address filtering at times but I don't think it's on by default on any router I have used.

Hey there teachngator. I certainly understand it is frustrating when devices will not connect to your WiFi. I do have a couple questions to help me better understand. Are you using just an Xfinity Gateway, or do you have an additional router? I know with my wireless printer, whenever I have had to connect it to WiFi, I need to use an app exclusive to my printer, on a mobile device to get it connected.

Does your printer have an app that will assist you with connecting it?

Are you having issues connecting other devices?
