Important Question About Changing Security Mode To WPA

Doing this so my PSP 2000, Ps3, And Old Consoles in my house can connect to the wifi
So, I Had the old Xfinity Box And it allowed me to change my Security mode to WPA. But I had a blackout and It fried my box or something so we had gotten a new box hours later luckily

Not Im trying to change the Security Mode In the App And In the Admin Panel, From WPA2-PSK (AES) To WPA. But the main issue is that.

1. There isnt even a option for WPA, Only WPA2 And OPEN
2. Because It isn't WPA. I'm Not even able to pick up that my wifi exists on my consoles especially on my psp.
3. Look At the Examples right here. Shows the same on the app. Idk what to do https://i.imgur.com/eI4nCOO.png

4. My model is a XB6, On The App, The security shows only WPA2 And Open. And on the Admin Panel
5. I did call customer support and they said the SAME THING, They can't even help, They tried to change it, and it just never worked. They aren't able to.

WPA is no longer supported as it is no longer secure and very easily bypassed.

Good morning user_f55mq9. Thank you so much for taking the time to create a post and to reach out to our amazing community here on our Xfinity Forums for help with the wireless security settings on the new gateway. I'm sorry to read of the trouble you had with the previous gateway causing you to exchange it for a new XB6. I know how vital it is to have all my devices connected, so I see how this can create an issue when working with older technologies. As @NoNoBadPuppy shared WPA security is outdated and not available on newer devices. Looking through our equipment options I believe that you previously had a XB3 gateway, which supported WPA. The newer gateways XB6 and up are not showing WPA as an option for the network settings. A possible solution would be to use a stand-alone router that offers WPA security with the gateway, however you may experience decreased speeds with this connection depending on your level of service. Some people may even connect an older router to their gateway and allow both networks to broadcast, however this can create connection issues as well. I'm sorry there's not an easier solution for us, the technology isn't supported on the newer gateways.
