Inconsistent internet speed, dropping connection, and packet loss after neighborhood "upgrade"

Hello,

As of the last few weeks I have noticed a marked decrease in internet speed and consistency after new cables were run and installed street-side along our property. Prior to the infrastructure "upgrade" we were easily getting 600-800mbps download speeds (not the Gigabit we pay for, but not terrible) but now are stuck at a constant 60-150mbps average with speedtests showing a ridiculous 150% middle variance. Adding on to the frustration of slow speeds, frequent brief drops in connectivity occur, which causes frequent buffering of online streaming platforms and dropped packets/disconnects from online games. I hope to speak to a real human being regarding our issue and work toward a prompt resolution so we can get the service we pay for.

Thank you!

I've been doing some digging for months now and I feel like most people have been having issues with Xfinity after a neighborhood upgrade. I'm wondering if this is the issue, maybe faulty hardware on their side? It just feels like a lot of people have been complaining about the "neighborhood upgrade" lately.

Wouldn't be surprising. The neighborhood upgrade here ran about a week beyond their estimated "done by" date, maybe there were mistakes made or corners cut.

We had an outage here for about 12 hours a few months ago (they claimed the ambiguous "network damage" with no further information) and have had intermittent outages ever since it was "repaired." A quick browse through these forums shows a HUGE number of people with the same problem. Xfinity has a network problem they're not willing to admit. I wonder if there's a class action lawsuit in this somewhere.

@user_baap7r I can only hope there is. My internet has been so rough since late April getting packet loss anywhere between 5%-25% in discord most of the times and shooting up to as high as like 35%-40%.

None of you are alone. I live in St Paul and all over my area we have the new white nodes with fiber running to them and fiber running into our amps etc. But I have the slow speeds days where the internet connection drops then reconnects.
