Intermittent speed drops - Dynamic Range Window violations in modem log
Hi, I'm having an intermittent internet issue and would like to request a line technician visit rather than remote troubleshooting, since I'm pretty sure I've already isolated the cause on my end.
Symptoms: My connection cycles between normal speed and very slow multiple times over a 30-minute period, on and off throughout the day.
Equipment: Motorola MB8611 modem, Asus ZenWiFi AX mesh (3 units), 1.2 Gig plan.
What I found in my modem's event log (screenshots attached):
- Repeated "RNG-RSP CCAP Commanded Power Exceeds Value Corresponding to the Top of the DRW" warnings
- Repeated "Dynamic Range Window violation" warnings
- These occurred multiple times throughout the day on 9/8 (11:31am, 5:09pm, 5:10pm, 5:12pm, 6:17pm x3)
My modem's upstream power is already running around 41.5-42 dBmV, and downstream signal levels (power and SNR) all look normal. The repeated DRW violations suggest the CMTS is commanding more upstream power than the modem can provide, which points to signal loss somewhere between my home and your equipment (loose/corroded connector, bad splitter, or a line issue outside).
I also noticed there's scheduled maintenance in my area starting 9/11 at 1am PT - can you confirm whether that's related to this issue, or whether I still need a technician dispatched separately?

Thank you for looking into this.

Thank you @user_yluumf for reaching out on our Xfinity Community forums, and for providing those details and for taking the time to review your modem logs.
I can certainly understand how frustrating it is to experience intermittent speed issues, especially when you've already done extensive troubleshooting and identified recurring signal-related errors.
We'd be happy to take a closer look at the signals, review any area maintenance, and determine whether additional action, such as a technician visit, may be needed. At your convenience, please send us a Direct Message* with your full name and complete service address, and we'll be glad to investigate further.
We appreciate the thorough information you've provided and look forward to assisting you.
